Several Minute Delay On Initial 'Continue' Screen - Carries Into Installed Too

Hey folks,

So I have a Shuttle SG31G2 (G31 Intel Chipset, ICH7 with a NVIDIA GF 9600GSO) that I have been upgrading to Snow from 10.5. I've finally got it installed but a weird problem that was apparent in the initial install has carried into the final installation and is quite an annoyance.

This problem showed itself first on the initialization of the installer for Snow Leopard. After getting through the boot, you get that first screen for selecting language. That loads up fine and I can move the mouse but cannot select anything for several minutes. Once this time passes, the queued events occur (whatever I was attempting to click) and then everything continues without issue.

The problem continues and is apparent after the install is complete and SL loads to the desktop. In this case, the desktop loads properly but then I just sit there for several minutes waiting to be able to click anything (again I can move the mouse around while waiting and queue up actions). Once this initial several minute wait is over, the system works properly.

Any idea what this could be? Default install from the Vanilla guide used to install SL this far.
