I need some help about EFI string, how to edit it ?

let me explain:

To install SL, I used this tuto:

http://www.insanelymac.com/2009/09/install...-pc-hackintosh/

Customization:

All additional .kext are in /Extra/Extensions

Leopard 10.5.7 works fine about video, display is recognized & I can change resolution up to 1440x900.

So I put all NVDAN + NVDAResman + NVEnabler from 10.5.7 in /Extra /Extensions/

I build com.apple.Boot with EFIstudio

First problem

I spent some time and don’t find issue to following problem:

S L don’t recognize Display and stay to 1280x1024 resolution I set in com.apple.boot.plist

I tried a lot of drivers, injectors…. and I can’t change resolution.

Some one told me it is a matter of EFI string ? I don’t understand anything about those strings. So if you found a good link to solve this kind of problem, let me know it (I know Google is my friend but I did not find !)

Or better If someone succeed to make a GeForce 7600 GS working in SL, let me know how ?

Second problem (less priority)

I can’t get the right .kext to access PATA drives, if I edit AppleVIAATA working for SATA, just to add ID + VD id in the right part, I got Kernel panic at next boot.

Thanks for any help :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Here are some news

By the way I found solution to MOBO nforce .kext (problem 2) with this kext:

AppleNForceATA.AnV.kext

now ATA HDD and DVD are operating

But problem 1 still there:

I found interesting things about editing EFI strings from:

http://forum.netkas.org/index.php?topic=222.0

So I put the right EFI string in com.apple.Boot.plist

Now, about this MAC recognize the 7600 GS but don't see the display

so display stays in default resolution.

I found elsewhere that SL needs DSDT, and that it is mandatory.

I found DSDTSE, that seems very powerful, but....

I am looking for the way to inject there 7600GS parameters

and i really don't know how ????

any help appreciated

Leon
