I have been working with pc's for over 10 years but I am new to playing with Mac. Bought my wife a Macbook Pro a couple of days ago and a extra retail snow leopard for myself :) . After doing some reading I ended up going and getting a 8gb usb stick. Use Adam's method http://lifehacker.com/5351485/how-to-build...start-to-finish (kind of) to install snow leopard. I followed everything he said on there except I loaded RC Chameleon-2.0-RC1-r431 since people had been having problems with the newest release. After I got everything loaded on the 8gb usb drive I crossed my fingers and loaded her up to the pc. Everything walked through fine until the end of installation. Waiting for 30 minutes for the big green check mark at the end and get a installation fail is kind of like waiting for 30 minutes thinking your good and the someone giving you the finger. Go back in to bios and change a few things and try another 30 minute install. 2nd install no good. Patience is no problem, time on the other hand works against me as it is already 1 in the morning and have to get up at 7 am and go to work. Hooked up the external hard drive to the Macbook Pro and installed SL OS 10.6 with no problem. Unhooked the external hd from the Macbook Pro and hooked it to the pc. It booted into the 8gb usb stick and recognized the external hd installation. Everything works fine except I can't figure out how to get the audio and dvd rom to work. Not sure if I am doing the kext right or not.

I found acl888.kext but it doesn't seem to be working. Any other thoughts for the DVD Rom that is on a Ide and the audio?

Thanks,

Brian
