thePion
I've decided to try out OS X, and I'd prefer having it in a triple-boot configuration on my laptop (alongside Windows and Ubuntu). I've been following this walkthrough: http://cy8erpunkthunk.blogspot.com/2006/03...-and-osx86.html In short, the walkthrough tells me to: - Prepare an empty partition on my harddrive for OS X - Convert my dmg file (I've got snowleopard_10a432_userdvd.dmg) to an iso-file - Use the "PPT 3.0" application in the "maxxuss"-package to patch the iso-file - Mount the iso-file using daemon-tools - Create a custom partition in VMWare and install OS X to it - Use qemu-img to convert the VMWare disk image to a raw .img-file - Write the resulting .img-file to disk using dd - Add OS X to the grub boot-loader I know the guide is for 10.4.3, but I'm guessing the procedure is much the same for 10.6? I've created my partition and converted my dmg file into snowleopard_10a432_userdvd.iso. However, now I'm stuck at the "Maxxuss DVD/ISO patcher for 8F1099"-step. Do I need a maxxuss version specific to 10.6? I'm on a Intel Core 2 Duo laptop (HP EliteBook 8530w) if that matters, and I'm looking for the easiest way to install OS X on it... Mr Giggles
Pion- That link is nearly 3 years old... you should browse the forums here for a bit to get a better idea of how to start. I personally recommend Here EDIT: Or just put your computer name in the search bar on this site: EliteBook 8530w and follow any guides that you think you might be able to complete. Have fun!
