ptesone
I got sick of trying to find all this stuff so I found it all and posted it all here. . . to install: unzip the kernel into root / of drive create a symbolic link if need be in a terminal: ln -s mach_kernel.9.5 mach_kernel edit /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist to point to new kernel ie: <string>mach_kernel.9.5</string> copy system.kext & seatbelt.kext to /System/Library/Extensions and do permissions fix reboot! The only difference is in these zip files is that I've included the corresponding system and seatlbelt kext with ea kernel. srs5694
FWIW, I tried the Qoopz and AnV kernels on an iPC system that I'd upgraded to 10.5.8, but on which I'm having USB problems. Both cause kernel panics when loading the VoodooHDA audio driver, although Qoopz seems to be able to boot up sometimes (it's not consistent). I haven't tried the Voodoo 9.7 kernel yet. I've a feeling I'll be sticking with 10.5.6, which I've got on another partition on this system, at least until I can get a 10.6 installation working.... Shaweek
In my opinion Qoopz is the best. I've been using it since I've fresh installed 10.5.8 and I didn't have a single kernel panic. Way to go ^^.
srs5694
what system are you running? As I said, iPC. I think the problem was my audio driver, which I installed separately. I don't have the time or inclination to fully debug it, though, particularly not since I expect to be at least attempting to put 10.6 on this system before too long. srs5694
Sorry, I guess I meant what hardware are you running? It's an eMachines T3646 with a single-core Sempron something-or-other CPU and an nVidia chipset. (It's powered down right now or I'd be more specific.) I'm not looking for support on this; as I say, I don't see much point in putting a lot of effort into it this close to the time when I expect to be doing a major push to get 10.6 on the computer. I was just posting to point out to others that there may be incompatibilities with the VoodooHDA driver.
ptesone
I tried 10.6 like 6 different times using the modbin test7 kernel, all of them- nuttin but KP's
Colour Of Sound
Hi, The link for the stock Voodoo 9.7 kernel gives an error message from Rapidshare saying it has reached the download limit. Also, I was wondering where you got this kernel from? As far as I am aware Voodoo haven't released a stock 9.7 kernel for AMD yet, I thought the only kernels available over 9.5 were third party voodoo based kernels. Thanks for the collection, really useful for us AMD-ers

I got the 9.7 kernel from iAtkos 10.5.7 install, but I believe it's AnV XNU kernel based on voodoo. . . I'm still looking for AMD friendly Snow Leopard kernels as well. . .
