Hi Everybody,

I'm a noob in this hackintosh world, so I guess there a lot of stuff that i'm not getting right. So I apologize right away if my question is old news or if it doesn't make sense.

After 2 week of digging and trying to understand how to install SnowOSX on my PC, I was able to install it and make it worked, everything is working like a charm now and it's even more steady then my windows installation. I'm very please with the result...but

Today I bought this awesome apple keyboard, "the sleek aluminium one" :) for the look of course and also, because I can not stand anymore my logitech G11 game keyboard (it's way too big).

What was my surprise when I found out that this keyboard is not working. at first I was not even able to enter the bios my system wasn't able to detect it. made some change to the Bios..USB setting...with another keyboard and after I was able to enter the bios with it and so on.......but it still doesn't work in my hackintosh installation.

Is it possible to make it work.....

Thanks for reading and hopefully someone will be able to help me on this matter.

Peace

P. S. sorry for my english, I'm a french dude from Montreal (QC) Canada :D

I have an Apple keyboard as well, but you only get power to it once the grey screen and apple logo appear - the same as with a real Mac, so it can't be used to access BIOS or select anything prior to the grey screen/Apple logo). The way around it is to have another keyboard plugged in with the Apple keyboard.

Hi, I would beg to differ with this. I have the 2 wired Apple keyboards on my systems #'s 1 and 2. They are the only keyboards I've used on these systems and they are activated from the moment the bios begins. I don't know what motherboards or bioses you're using, but for most newer motherboards, the Apple keyboard should work fine if you have all the USB bios configurations are checked on.

I'm sure it does depend on the motherboard and BIOS being used (using an Intel D945GCPE) but I don't get any power to the keyboard until the grey apple boot screen appears. I've tried different BIOS settings but it doesn't make any difference for me. Having the other keyboard plugged in for any pre-boot stuff works for me. ;)

in BIOS set USB Legacy Support to on and the keyboard is active from the time the system is turned on

If for some reason you can't/won't change BIOS settings to suit the apple aluminium keyboard (for example, I get slow transfer speeds on a USB hard disc in the legacy mode I have to choose to make the keyboard work), then you can try plugging the keyboard in through a USB1 hub. This is what I have done, and now I don't have to use legacy mode at all, or have two keyboards attached. Even though the speed is reduced under USB1, it's easily fast enough for a keyboard and even the wireless mouse I have plugged in through the keyboard.
