Dell Inspiron 530 Files Attached

Here is my Extra folder (attached) for those having trouble installing Snow on a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop. Guides are everywhere so I will keep it short.

 

1. Create an Install partition on an external HD (8GB or more)

2. Restore the Snow Leopard DMG to it using Disk Utility

3. Install Chameleon RC3 manually to this partition (instructions are in the readme)

4. Copy the Extra folder (attached zip file) to root of that partition. Adjust Graphics card EFI string (generate using EFI Studio) in boot.com.plist if you don't have an NVidia 8600 GTS 256 MB.

5. Boot from it and install to another partition of your choice (uncheck everything except base system)

6. Everything should work except network card (I have a Netgear PCI card) and sound

7. Install VoodooHDA.kext from the E/E folder using kext helper to your S/L/E (I could not load it from E/E) and you should have sound

8. ??

9. Profit.

 

PS: dsdt.aml is generated and patched on my BIOS version 1.0.15. I was having CMOS reset problem which was fixed after I patched it so I know it works.
