I am trying to install SL on my PC. This is my first attempt at installing any Apple OS on my PC.

I've read some of the threads that pertain to my hardware configuration, but I get totally lost - probably because I am not familiar with different terminologies.

I do not have an access a Leopard machine. I only have windows right now. Borrowed a mac to create SL install DVD image and loaded it to USB.

Here is what I have:

GA-EX58-UD5

Intel core i7 920

nvidia gtx 280

6gb ocz

2 x 500 gb WD caviar blue (windows on 1, and trying to install SL on other)

corsair 650W PSU

I've read, and tried to follow some guides:

1) I tried Lifehacker's Guide followed it exactly (hoping it'd work on my computer) but I get to loading part, right before where I think I choose language, and lose video signal.

No idea whats causing this.

2) Most other guides for UD5 here seems to require leopard or some OS X installed.

I already have a USB with SL Install DVD on it - from doing Lifehacker's guide.

get to:

- "Press any key to enter startup options."

- "Chameleon v2.0-RC1 r" loads and i press Enter to select the USB.

- says "loading darwin" then I see apple logo and the rotating thing below the logo.

It goes on for a little bit and then my monitor has no signal.

Since I can see apple logo and loading, I figure maybe my configurations in some plist files are not correct?

I figure I'll need to have proper kexts? Can I just drop these in the Extra/Extension folders? It contains Extensions.mkext, but I have no idea what that file contains!

anyone have any pointers on what I can do to move from losing video signal to installing? or how I can get/setup kexts and smbios or any other files need? Also appreciate any other general help as well. I know there are all these guides here and thats great, but i'm just really confused/intimidated by them because I don't know much about how to set up these things. I am learning though...

Thanks!
