Hi guys,

I have this very early MBP (2006) . I would like to replace the battery, Superdrive and HDD. Please tell me your suggestions. Has anybody heard about the Fastmac Trupower battery, or has anybody used it? Is it really that good as it claims?

About the Superdrive, has anybody changed it? My stock Mat{censored}a UJ-857 (4X no DL write) is spitting out everything. Has anybody used Fastmac APP-6295? Lastly HDD suggestions.

I'm from India, hence please suggest online stores which ship internationally (hence no newegg).

Hello! I believe we may have the same model MBP and even the same issues!

I have a early 2006 MBP 2.33Ghz 15". My stock battery lasts maybe 45min with a full charge and normal power settings. My bulemic Superdrive won't hold any blank DVD's. It will suck them in, make some whirring noises, and spit the disc out after maybe 15 seconds.

Interesting that we have similar issues on what sounds like similar models of MBP.

As for the HDD replacement you asked about, I had great success swapping my original 120Gb with a Hitachi 7200rpm 200Gb drive, and then again most recently with a Western Digital 5400rpm 500Gb drive. The WD was easier on my battery life and even benchmarked faster than the old 720rpm0 200Gb Hitachi.

Good luck with your upgrades!
