Has anybody succesfully installed SL 10.6 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61? It should be possible, because it's based on Intel GM/PM965 Chipset. Anyway, I tried it using several tutorials but failed each time - really frustating :D :) :( I know, until now there is no driver/kext for the Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M available. But maybe there will be a solution with the new Chameleon 2 RC3 bootloader in the near future?! ...

Try these tutorials:

I have a T60p and followed this and got everything working except QE/CI on my ATI Radeon X1600 (still working on that, I think I need to find EFI strings):

Had to manually generate my DSDT here:

Good luck!

No success :( :( :( I tried several installation guides, but each time I try to boot the installation packet or the installation DVD, after 2 seconds of a nice apple logo there is kernel panic. What a mess - it's really frustrating. Booting 10.5.8 is not a problem, but 10.6 SL seems to be a real challenge...

Is there anybody out there who had more luck? Is a correct dsdt.aml essential???

this is the only method that worked for me. everything worked perfectly except for the video. not sure how to fix. does chameleon affect the video settings/memory? i am not used to using it.

I tried using the GMAX3100FB from the link as well as the kext i got via osx86tools on 10.5.8 that worked. no luck. i also tried stock and that didn't work. sounds like i need more than a kext.

Right, booting into the installation of SL finally worked with the x61/T61 specific dsdt.am, also installation without any trouble!! :thumbsup_anim:

However when I tried to boot into that the SL partition chameleon 2 RC2 says that it can't find a mach kernel! Why that??? I have all kexts, the apple.boot.plist and dsdt.aml on a Chameleon 2.0 Boot-USB-stick and that worked perfectly with the installation DVD cloned to a hard drive.

Any suggestions? Is there maybe a 64/32 bit conflict??

use 1.0.12 from that guy's post pack (in the only dmg). and after you finish installing chameleon on the drive, copt the boot file in the dmg to the root of your drive.

Hi Everyone,

It seem everything works fine after I disable the multi core support from the BIOS to avoid KP.

Do you guy have any idea to fix this issue??

my System runs fine with 10.5.6 and 10.5.8

Thanks in advance.

Any one get T61 with X3100 with 1680x1050 screen running with SL?

Every time after I install the kext, I will get a white screen even I try to force it to run "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32"

Anyone can upload the kext for X3100 which work with 1680x1050 screen here? I need that for Snow Leopard with either 32bit or 64bit mode.

Thanks

Much more interesting for me would be a working kext or something similar for my build in Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M. That would be more than great. But so far as I know that seems to be impossible, right??! :) :(

I get that to work on 10.5.2 and 10.5.6 with 1600x1000 and 10.5.8 with 1680x1050 (With SL original Kext). However, I just cant get that run correctly on Snow Leopard.

Any Suggestion for Intel X3100 ??

I have a Thinkpad T61with the NVidia NVS 140m.

I know I might not have the NVidia full support but I'll take what I can at this point. 1400x1050 resolution to begin with would be NICE.

Which would be the OSX / OSX86 Distro / Hack / Retail / Variant I should go for to install on this Thinkpad T61.
PATH OF LEAST EFFORT, LEAST RESISTANCE?

Has anyone gotten theirs to work? I tried last night with MyHack and the issue was that I could not get the installation guide to recognize the startup disc. After fixing what was needed to, the installation simply wouldn't work. What method has you all used?

Any solutions with the NVidia issue too?

To Michael and Jacky, I'm sure you've seen this post elsewhere here (http://www.insanelym...howtopic=188569) where a guy seems to have accomplished a T61 SL install. I've followed the instructions to the letter (or so I think) at least 10 times and end up with varying results...my 'best' result though was similar to yours Jacky, I got what I thought was to the end of the boot process, but then a white screen and nothing. I also tried to force run a different graphics mode, or to boot as a single user and use the 'remove' AppleIntelGMAX*.* command that is often necessary with a leopard install.

So for now, it's back to 10.5.8 which is running fine. Per the above post, Snow Leopard seems to be stalled at 10.6.1 anyway as the 10.6.2 upgrade breaks sound and wifi.

I'll keep following this post, however, so do post an update if anyone is successful out there.

Sorry guys. I forgot to mention in my post (http://www.insanelym...howtopic=188569), the screen resolution of my Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 is 1280x900. The default of kext both in 10.5. and 10.6 works for this resolution with QE. Only a little work on com.apple.Boot.plist and replacing the AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext will make the brightness adjust working perfectly. I felt the improved performance of my T61 under 10.6 compare to 10.5, however, there was no change in benchmark scores (Xbench or Geekbench). By the way, some software works perfectly in 10.5 but not in 10.6 and some buggers in "enable spaces" function in 10.6. Next computer I will buy a real Mac. Actually, I also spent much time in trying OSx86 Project so I do hope to post my experience will help others saving their time (thanks again those post by others).

I partitioned the hard disk into two partitions using disk utility when installing Mac and used the first partition for installing the operation system as we used to do in PC. Then my data and home directory are in second partition. Under DOS or Window XP, I applied Ghost 11 to back up whole system partition to a data partition in the second hard disk which I installed WinXP with Thinkpad recovery partition. So I could back up the Mac system if I am not happy or get system panic after trying update and some software and also I have a working WindowXP. It is a time-saving tip for trying new things.

I was able to get my Thinkpad T61 with a NVIDA 140m graphics card working by using the following boot command

'-x "Graphics Mode"="1680x1050x32" platform=NVDANV50Hal'

My system is running SL 10.6.2 and my display does support 1680x1050 you must have the NVDANV50Hal.kext file for this to work...

Hope this helps

Really!? I've been researching the 140m issue for a week to no avail. What process did you use to install SL on your T61? I tried the itakos for 10.5 and never had a solution for graphics. I'd really love to hear what your success was!

Hello everyone,

I successfully installed Snow Leopard on my Lenovo T61, but I have a couple of problems and I was hoping that one of you guys could answer me.

1- I can't boot without the EFI boot CD and I can't figure out why
2- I can't get the Wireless to work.

Is there other tweaks I should be doing to optimize the system??

Thank you very much for the help it greatly appreciated!

'-x "Graphics Mode"="1680x1050x32" platform=NVDANV50Hal'

Isn't "-x" means safe mode, means no QE or CI at all?
