Hi Everyone,

I just get SL running find with my BadAxe2 with 7300GT 256MB.

Since Snow Leopard support GPGPU processing (that's graphics card processing, in English) with OpenCL. Is OSX86 SL support that function? I would like to upgrade the Video Card (Prefer ATI)

I know ATI 4870 and Nvidia 9800 have stable solution for SL. but I would like to know which one I could get the best performance (GPGPU if Support) out of it.

Thanks in Advance.

Radeon 4870 is better than nvidia's 9800.

BUT,

Only radeons HD 4xxxx are supported for OpenCL, and al Geforces 8 al later are supported as GPGPU on SL. Therefore, is cheaper to get a mainstream model like 8600GT and get OpenCL if you don't have enough cash. Also is easier to get a nvidia card working with EFI strings than ATI.

If you don't care about cash, then buy a GTX285 or GTX295. The latter, is the fastest card of the planet with 480 (240x2) stream processors for GPU computing (CUDA on Windows, OpenCL on Mac). ATI still can't beat that.

Cheers!
