elchuchopisado
Hey guys, i just used blackosx's guide for installing Snow Leopard and i have a rock solid stable installation goin right now. Just until recently i found out that my IDE DVD Burner wasn't being recognized. I tried many things to resolve the issue. I am running in x64 bit. When i go to x32 bit the drive is displayed and i can use it. I was glad of this so i popped in my WoW WoTLK CD in and proceeded to install only to be greeted by a Kernel Panic not even 2% of the way into the installation of the game. It's not very stable in x32 bit and i dont know why. The next thing i tried was googling the issue and i came upon this: http://netkas.org/?p=125 I thought all my problems were solved but i put the kext in my Cham partition and it didn't fix the problem. Anyone know if there is a fix to show IDE drives in Snow Leopard x64 bit? Thanks

IDE drives under Snow Leopard! come on someones gotta be having the same problem or someones gotta know the fix. IDE drives under Snow Leopard! i suggest u define your Hardware in your Signature so people can better point you to the right direction..but i guess u need a compatible ATAInjector or modified JMicronATA.kext
elchuchopisado
GIGABYTE GA-P35-S3L INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6550 4GB OCZ 1066 RAM WD 500G HARD DRIVE (PARTITION 1: BACKUP / PARTITION 2: LEOPARD (10.5)(TO MAKE THE BOOTABLE USB) SEAGATE 160GB HARD DRIVE (PARTITION 1: CHAMELEON BOOTLOADER / PARTITION 2: SNOW LEOPARD) LITE-ON IDE DRIVE It seems that i do need a kext. I have tried the one from the link and i have a JMicronATA.kext. I dont think i have tried ATAInjector but if someone could get me one OR a MODIFIED JMicronATA.kext to work with my IDE port that would be nice. heysap
if your IDE controller is some jmicron you might need this 64bit JMicronATA.kext p c w i z c o m p u t e r .com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=37&dir=DESC&order=name&Itemid=74&limit=5&limitstart=
rest assured son
I am running in x64 bit. Useless to have 64 bit, unless you have more then 32 gigs of ram. (Then it is useful) Anyone know if there is a fix to show IDE drives in Snow Leopard x64 bit? Turn off 64 bit is easy, other then that JMicron kext can help. Saying "Its Perfect....Except" is clearly confusing syntax. Revisit your grammatical knowledge.
Suixo
I had the same problem in my Snow Leopard. The thing is I tried everything like the pcwiz JMicroATA64bit package and other kexts and nothing works. I found in other forum this shared folder of kexts and other stuff and tried as the others kexts and it worked. Folder In this Folder I downloaded the ICHx-Snow and the JMicronATA.kext.AllJMicron.IDE.x86_64 and after reboot the ATA Hard Disk was displayed and with full access. Hope it works for you. Note: I'm using Snow Leopard 64bit (If is there anything you didn't understand say it because I'm portuguese and it's normal to have some typing errors) EDIT: In the ICHx-Snow folder that was downloaded I used the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext from the "updated missing dev-ID by z0r.zip"
malou
I can't boot in 64bits mode on my setup and I must use the original AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext by netkas because otherwise I get a "Still waiting for root device..." error... And none of the JMicronATA.kext I tried worked... Does someone have another experience to try? My specs are in my signatures.

I have a similar issue, but the DVD doesn't show in 32 AND 64 bit mode in Snow Leopard. Thanks
Suixo
Sorry for the late answer... I have a Gigabyte P35-DS4 Motherboard. I haven't tried a 32bit driver for Snow because I really wanted Snow in 64bit. Hope you solve your problem..
