Reading several threads on installing SL on Intel machine and have seen

many references to smbios.plist and editing same.

In my current Leopard 10.5.8 system on Asus motherboard I can't find

an smbios.plist file.

1. Where is the smbios.plist file located in Leopard 10.5.8?

2. Do you get an smbios.plist after install of sl? and if so, where is it?

3. Is an smbios.plist required to install and run SL?

Thanks

I understand it is mostly a cosmetic thing (showing the correct processor speed and mem types, etc).

I also understand it is necessary to add the correct UUID in the file for the system to boot properly.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

This is my smbios.plist, I want to know what parts can I delete safely from the file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>

<key>SMUUID</key>
<string>461D32A8-E149-333A-B6A9-4B7C84BF09E7</string>
<key>SMbiosversion</key>
<string>MP31.000.0000.000.0000000000</string>

<string>Apple Inc.</string>
<key>SMproductname</key>
<string>MacPro3,1</string>
<key>SMsystemversion</key>
<string>1.0</string>
<key>SMserial</key>
<string>00000000000</string>
<key>SMexternalclock</key>

<key>SMmemtype</key>
<string>19</string>
<key>SMmemspeed</key>
<string>800</string>
</dict>
</plist>

Thanks,

Rodrigo

That's interesting, but where is that file located?

1. Don't know what would be the place between MacOS folders, but I would put it in /Extras if using the Chameleon bootloader (which creates that folder in the root of the drive/usb you choose to install).

2. AFAIK, nope.

3. I understand that it is necessary to have that UUID thing, but I only know about install for P5W DH Deluxe board, dunno if it's generic.
