After a long wait I finally found out what was causing the stuttering sounds and freezing games under xp.

Symptoms: (Under Windows XP - SP2 and SP3 Version)

1. Stuttering sounds then normalizes.

2. or Stuttering sounds and freezing of the game then normalizes.

3. or All of the above which is in need of a cold restart.

4. or All of the above, able to switch to desktop with a long lag, and which game later automatically quits.

Cause:

1. The driver that came with bootcamp.

Fix:

1. Download this http://rs153.rapidshare.com/files/275086434/WDM_R232.exe (Realtek audio High definition version 2.32)

2. Install

3. Restart

4. Play

It may seem like it was the temperature, but its not, Sometimes the fallout 3 crashed at the menu screen after I turned the computer on with temps in the 20 to 30s Celcius (Room Temperature).

Have fun playing :-)

This doesn't belong in the OS X forum. It belongs in the Windows Discussion forum.

Are you sure? I thought since bootcamp had a bad driver I thought it belonged under bootcamp. If you ask for support for windows games, they would say, sorry we don't support bootcamp - I eMailed bethesda about fallout 3 and they said just said, they only support windows computer. So apparently windows and bootcamp are different.

So think about how people would search for this topic, "iMac + bootcamp + crashing + xp" something similar.

Unless the windows discussion has a bootcamp area, it would fit nicely there.
