Hi guys! Well, this's my first attemp ever to play with MacOS on a pc, so bear with me please ;)

Here's my rig specs:
- Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L (F5 Bios) MB.
- Intel E8400
- 4 GB. RAM
- PowerColor ATI HD3870 PCIe card
- 1x 320GB. sata HDD
- 1x 120GB. IDE HDD
- 1x Sony DVD drive

I followed the guide on the 1st page and used the following:
- A GA-EP35-DS3L (F5 Bios) DSDT file from another member here who managed to get everything working just fine.
- The original Kexts which are included in the MacLoader_SL kit.

The restore and the preparation of the USB flash was inside of a VMware of SL.
I used just a USB flash stick and followed the instructions step by step, everything went ok, yet i should mention that when executing the 2_SnowLeoInstaller script, i got an error near the end, somehting about the MBR couldn't be written to the flash, but everything else went ok and i got a "completed" message.

Booting of the flash stick goes ok all the way to the apple logo and the spinning circle and that's it, it just keep spinning and nowhere else it goes. Tried booting with -x32, -x, disabled the IDEs & the built-in audio & LAN, still the same.

Here's an attached screenshot at where it stops:

What i might be doing wrong? maybe a 3870 driver needed? more Kexts? bios settings?
Clueless and need any kind of help.

Thanks in advance.

You need FakeSMC.kext to solve

Hey. Very nice guide, almost got me going all the way.

I got as far as installing SL without any errors, i could boot into SL. I suppose i got stuck somewhere around the last step.

"Open again the MacLoader_SL folder then double-click the "3_MacLoader" file and follow prompts."

I did that, however im always a little unsure if i should hit 'Enter', type "/volumes/SnowLeopard/" or just "SnowLeopard"

SnowLeopard beeing the partition where i installed SL.

However, i did use the prompt and it extracted some things and i rebooted. Now where i press any key and choose Snowleopard harddrive it wont boot up. It quickly says it encounterd some errors, and then it continues to load to a white screen with ze big apple, and thats where i am stuck now.

Any ideas of what i could do?

Thanks!

You only need to type the Name of your HDD where the snow Leopard just got installed, for instant : " Macintosh HD" . when it ask to enter the delay time you have to enter something like 2 second or 5 second etc.... If you leave it blank it won't work, I don't know why. Good luck.

hey guys!

ill ask my question in this thread since i am not able to open a new thread yet hope its allright.

first of all i am still quite a noob to the whole hackintosh thing but since i have a macbook and fell in love with osx i wanted to give it a shot and try to get it to work on my desktop. :excl:

heres my hardware:

intel q6600 @2,4 ghz

msi p45 neo3-fr

ati hd4850

4gb kingston ram

edit: now i managed to boot to osx with the usb stick after installign it with "myhack" and booting it with mac loader. but now when i try to reboot it without the usb drive i get a kernel panic saying

"should have 2 threads, but only found 3 for die 1"

anyone has an idea how to make it work without the usb stick? ive tried to install the "myhack" bootloader as well as "macloader" both the same... :excl:

thanks for your help

Hey, so thanks alot for this guide, i just got my install up and running. And as far as i can see its working ;)

However its just 1 thing thats bothering me, when i boot the computer and i get to Charmeleon screen to select which HD to boot, it always chooses my "Snowleopard backup" harddrive over my partion where i have my actual SL installed on.

I realize in disk utility i have 3 partition, and i put my SL install on the bottom, so i guess it has the lowest number, say 3, and the bootloader goes 1, 2 and then 3.

My question is if anyone know how to change so it choose the *right* HD at start?

Thanks!

Hi all,

Just a quick couple questions.

When running 3_MacLoader are we supposed to answer "Y" to the question: Do you want to setup MacLoader in the EFI-partition?

When I do I get some messages of: No such file or directory when the script tries to access /Volumes/EFI/Extra/Extensions.mkext and then the following:

fdisk: could not open MBR file /usr/standalone/i386/boot0: No such file or directory (isn't i386 for windows??)<-- I think I saw a post earlier that said to ignor this, just making sure.

Then upon reboot I get the Apple Logo and an infinate grey spinning circle.

Any ideas?

Booting with the -v -f flag shows the boot stoping with the following error:

ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::pushCPU_CSTData - _CST evaluation failed

Hardware is ASUS P5GC-mx 1333 and Nvidia 9500 GT. I had this system working well with the 10.5.X iAtkos build, but had difficulties when upgrading to SL, so I decided it was time to try to go Vanilla. Thanks in advance for help.

Hi!

It is a very nice guide indeed but I am having some problems installing SL. The USB-disk seems to have been created without any problems but when I boot from it the screen goes grey after the apple logo. I have tried the solutions that have been mentioned earlier but they do not seem to work. I am pretty convinced that it is my ati 4850 that is messing up the installation but I have not managed to add driver kexts or enable graphics enabler for it. I can boot the installation in safe mode without grey screen but the installer ends abruptly when 15 min are left. I think that this could be due to some drivers that are ignored because of safe mode. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Can someone help me I installed this (and retail snow leopard) to my disk no problem I also added the mach_modbin kernel with no problem it even boots from the disk with no problem. When I get into the installer all my disks say cannot install here (and yes I tried formatting them) does anybody know what I need to do to fix this.
-edit-
I also added the following kexts.

AppleIntelPIIXATA
fakesmc
IOATAFamily
NullCPUPowerManagement
OpenHaltRestart
PlatformUUID
Sleepenabler

Here are my specs in case you need them.

Pentium D Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 6200
945p MOBO
3.5GB DDR2 Ram
2 - 150GB SATA Harddrives
-edit-
Gone through the setup Process 3 times now and I can't even get it to boot anymore :)
