Kevin87 Posted September 2, 2009 Share Posted September 2, 2009 I thought I would start a thread on this because I think it would be interesting for everyone to post their scores compared to their 10.5.8 system. Here are my results Specs MB: ABIT IP35-E CPU: Intel 2.66 Ghz Q9400 RAM: 4 Gigs 800 mhz Graphics: Nvidia 9600GS 10.5.8 (32bit) score 4860 10.6 (32bit) score 5866 I believe this is so much higher because of the graphics card. It seems that snow leopard is really using the system resources much better than leopard did. Is any one else experiencing the same kind of performance increase? This is a huge increase and you can really see the difference in my system. (I am running 32bit because I need to read and write to an NTFS file system) edit: I will post some screens when I finish running SuperDuper on my system. I'm running in 32 bit mode because the ethernet is the only thing I can't get to work at 64 bit. If I find a 64 bit kext for the ethernet, I'll repost these results. Settings for both the CPU and RAM clockspeed were the same in BIOs when I ran Geekbench on each OS. I think I have to tweak my SMBIOS.plists and tune up a few things in both OSes. I've also been verrrrrrry sleep-deprived throughout the Snow installation process. What's the big difference between displaying Mac Pro 2,1 - 3,1 - 4,1? I tried to change model from 2,1 to Mac Pro 4,1 but I got a KP. Cheers! Basically MacPro2,1 MacPro3,1 and MacPro4,1 refer to the hardware refreshes Apple has done to the MacPro line. And u can't just change the model because the information on the smbios.plist has to match the model you want to represent I dont have the info from a real MacPro4,1 but here is for MacPro3,1 if u want MacPro3,1 <key>SMproductname</key> <string>MacPro3,1</string> <key>SMfamily</key> <string>MacPro</string> <key>SMbiosversion</key> <string>MP31.88Z.00C1.B00.080209154</string> <key>SMbiosvendor</key> <string>Apple Inc.</string> <key>SMserial</key> <string>W88261E7YP4</string> <key>SMboardproduct</key> <string>Mac-F42C89C8</string> <key>SMsystemversion</key> <string>1.0</string> Just replace those Strings and keys in smbios.plist. M0rpheus Posted September 6, 2009 Share Posted September 6, 2009 I tried to change model from 2,1 to Mac Pro 4,1 but I got a KP. That's because the latest Mac Pro's (identified by 4,1) are Core i7's and the OS tries to load AppleTYMCEDriver.kext. This kext is for Core i7's only and will panic on other CPU's. If I try the MacPro 3,1 smbios that Beto2k7 posted here, Sys. Profiler shows it as a MacPro, but GeekBench shows it as Hackintosh. With MacPro 2,1 is showing it fine on GeekBench. I have a Q9550 myself as you can prolly see on my sig, I use the 4,1 fine with the deleted AppleTYMCEDriver.kext. I have no issues with that whatsoever so I guess I can recommend it Either way it doesn't really matter at all. There won't be any performance difference. Anyone got any idea what's causing that? Otherwise SL is running perfectly. First machine has EP45-UD3R mobo and the other EX58-UD3R. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.
