clipper99
Here is my DSDT.aml for a GA-EP45-UD3P board. This DSDT is based on the one posted by unixman84 however it has been patched to fix sound. You will need the legacyHDA.kext as well. I am also using the ifconfig fix with a login hook to fix bonjour. Hi, thanks for this. Since we have the same mobo I've got a question for you. I'm using your .aml to replace the one in /EXTRA and am using a legacyHDA.kext file. All my inputs and 3 line outputs show in sound prefs including "Internal Speaker". My problem is my first line out setting won't work and i have to select Internal Speaker in order to hear audio. When any sound plays after more than about 15 seconds of silence I get a loud POP then the sound is ok....until nothing is playing for 15 seconds. Any thoughts? Anyone? cheers? claroquesi
Hey guys, I've got a test installer here... https://dl.getdropbox.com/u/4133/EP45UD3P%2...ard%20TEST1.zip (snip) Some notes about the DSDT: -Added Nvidia Graphics injection with an nvcap with a generalized dual-dvi layout. In saying that, some dual dvi graphics cards can use a different nvcap such as a 9400GT, or GTS 250, etc. (snip) -Stell Argh, maybe that is what is killing me with this. I have a 9400GT with VGA and DVI. Is there anyway to include a DSDT for this card? I am so close... just didn't want to blow the budget with the 9800 from Lifehacker. I have the "test 3" and it worked for a bit but overnight the whole system became unstable. I am going to try to reinstall, but am afraid it will go down the same terrible path. aaParis
Hello All, I install Retail 10.6 on my EP45-UD3P. Everything doing well, except the sound and LAN(only 10baseT-Full Duplex work). I spent a few days for trying kext and DSDT patches. Now, the sound card is singing without any kext left in /S/L/E. The list of /E/E are as below, ALC889A.Fix.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext PlatformUUID.kext SleepEnabler.kext fakesmc.kext These are my H/W spec. MOBO: EP45-UD3P BIOS: F9 CPU: Q9550 2.88 GHz RAM: 8GB (2GB 1033 Dual(pair) x 2) VGA: Gigabyte GV-N98TOC-512I 9800GT 512MB SATA: AHCI Mode That is damned close to my setup that i have not yet got fully working,,,, believe i am not clever enough to figure out the right dsdt file and the com.apple.boot.plist ,,, my setup; MOBO: GA-EP45-UD3P rev. 1.0 BIOS: euhh, dont know,,, CPU: Q9550 2.88 GHz RAM: 8GB (2GB 800 Dual(pair) x 2) VGA: Gigabyte GV-N96TSL-512I 9800GT 512MB SATA: AHCI Mode i got SL working but only 32mo Vram recognised,,, i used this Guide and the dsdt file in the example as is,,, quite complicated i find the whole dsdt file tweaking,,, in the "EFIStudio" app, the 512mo version of the GT 9600 isn't listed,,, so i believe my com.apple.boot.plist is bad,, ? any chance you could post a link to your set-ups com.apple.boot.plist/dsdt files ? andreas

Found a link to weaksauce12's ud3p package and was going to use it... ran the memorytest on the system per the rtf file in the .zip... voila.. one ddr2 module was really bad... downright dirty! Took it out and put the other in position one... ran the test again... good... installed SL... great! My video card is not showing the model number and only says 512mb... also computer now says unknown after updating to 10.6.1... but things seem really good now. Also... cheap flash memory caused probs..17 hour restores! Do youself a favor and spend as much or more on a flashdrive as you are on SL. I ended up getting a sony microvault and the restore went to 17 minutes... but it does take longer over time if you have to restore again... last time the sony took closer to an hour. kr0nic
First off I want to thank everyone that helped! Doom42 for this wonderful guide, crashalert for posting his DSDT file and Insanely Mac as a whole!!! Used Dooms Guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=181903 **NOTE: REMEMBER TO CHANGE YOUR SMBIOS FILE, UUID'S, AND EFI STRINGS FOR YOUR OWN HARDWARE! System: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz Gigabyte EP45-UD3P 8GB DDR2 RAM 2x 320GB HD eVGA nVidia GeForce 9400 GT 1GB Install Method: 2 Hard Drives. 1 blank, 1 with leo Doom's guide. SL installed within a Leo setup, via image file. My special steps to Doom42's guide. Used 3 outs 2 ins audio kext from the SL pack on doom42's guide to get my digital working. the green legacy kext. (ALC889A) Used a DSDT.aml file posted by crashalert in this forum for this motherboard. (Tried to manually create a dsdt file but i kept getting errors) **changed UUID's, EFI strings for video card, and SMBIOS for MY HARDWARE! (COPIED VIDEO CARD EFI STRINGS DIRECTLY FROM MY LEO INSTALL, NO PROGRAM NEEDED, SIMPLE COPY AND PASTE) after install, and modifications to the new drive first boot with -v -x32. went through setup quickly, after intro video, to get to spot light before the panic.... too late, still panic! 2nd reboot, -v -x32, setup was done, went directly to desktop, got to spotlight and hid my drives under privacy. still got another panic. 3rd reboot -v -x32, went back to spotlight and took the privacy off my drives and typed a word in the search box on the upper right hand corner of the spotlight window to index my drives... NO PANIC. 4th reboot. Normal boot, no boot flags. STABLE NO PANICS!!!! UP FOR ALMOST 12 hours. did some updates, installed all my programs. everything seems stable! SL is flying!!! xbench looks good, everything seems to be in working order. Once again. Thank everyone for all the hard work! Hope this helps someone! Here is my extra folder!!! (dsdt file, legacy kext, etc...) Remember to change your EFI STRINGS for video card, UUID's for hard drive, SMBIOS, and appropriate kexts! this audio kext is for the alc889a on the EP45-UD3P, digital out works! extra.zip

spenceju
The hardest part is getting audio working on 64bit, the rest so far has been straightforward. Took me a while to find a 64bit injector for 4890 though Ice88, Could you please post the injector that you used? I'm also have a ATI 4890 gfxcard. thanks, spenceju

spenceju
Nvidia only, unless you want to remove the graphics injection from the dsdt within the pkg. Hi Stellarola, I had a question about your mkext file that was included in you magic installer for the Gigabyte UD3P board. I've deleted your nvidia injector from your DSDT file and my computer is running stable with an ATI 4890 card. But I'm still not getting full functionality. I've been trying to decompile your file so that I can add a ATI video card kext but I haven't been able to. Could you give us a list of the kext files you used or perhaps post them as a zipped folder that has not been compiled into a mkext file? Thank you very much for any help. D-an-W
Folks, it looks like the TEST3 package is going to help me a LOT. I do however need to tweak the graphics injection to a VGA / DVI instead of the DVI / DVI it uses to allow me to use dual monitors. Is this something that would be possible and of so what would I have to do to the decompiled DSDT.aml to achieve it please?
D-an-W
I managed to create, edit and compile the DSDT.aml with my own NVCAP string and it works too which is always a bonus! I do have to ask the two guide / tool creators (Or anyone else who knows), why no IDE? I have two optical drives both IDE and would love to be able to use them. Since your card is different from the one in the guide you followed to install my guess would be that's why you don't have qe/ci.
sgunes
I cannot use any NTFS drives. I have already posted my setup (GA EP45-UD3P, 8GB Ram, Intel Q9550, NVidia 7800 GT). Used Chameleon 2 with Stellarola Magic3. I have everything working except for the ability to access NTFS drives. This includes NTFS drives on the main SATA ports, USB HD formatted for NTFS and also network drives. Drive utility shows the local drive, states not mounted, and then "cannot mount". I cannot access any of the JMicron drives. There seems to be different JMicron kexts out. What am I doing wrong? Please help! I am sooo close. Are the active kexts inside the file Extension.mkext? How do I access them?

sgunes
I tried to add JMicronATA.kext (the 176MB version) to the Extensions.mkext and the machine gets stuck at the gray apple and the rotating circle. I tried to just add the JMicronATA.kext to the Extras subdirectory. No dice. I do not have an "Extensions" directory, so I made one and put in the JMicronATA.kext. No dice. I changed in the Bios the secondary SATA option from AHCI to ATA and on the primary changed the legacy compatibility. No dice. Disc utility sees the 5 SATA drives on the primary controller and the 2 SATA drives connected to the JMicron but the drives do not show up in Finder and it states "Drives not mounted" in Finder. My iAtkos 7 shows all 7 SATA drives + SATA DVD and the 2 IDE hard drives without problems. What do I have to do to get this working? SL only sees the first four SATA drives on the primary controller at this point.
Nach0 Stallion
I'm not sure if this helps, but I have a HD4870 that I got working with this method. I used EVOenabler.kext and removed the EFI string from the package posted here. The EVOenabler's info.plist was modified by editing the HD4890 <key>entriesToAdd</key> with the one in ATY_init.kext for my card. The edited version can be found in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183064 Hope that helps. EDIT: I can post my files for you if it helps. G'day, I have only just managed to get my hands on one of these boards (hard to come by down under) and have now just realised that Stella's installer is for Nvidia cards, I have a 1GB 4870, i have a real mac to work files on and my hackintosh on a workbench ready to be installed, can you please explain how you modified the installer to get your 4870 to work, when i try to install with stellas one, i get spinning cog wheel, then after a while it stops spinning, and im sitting there with a grey apple logo screen not doing anything. any and all help appreciated, I had this card working with my GA31 MB running leopard, but wanted more SATA ports so i found the lifehacker guide thinking it will be easy with this new board :/
Sull
Hey Everyone, I am working on getting my system running perfect ( specs in sig ). Just working on the last couple issues. I am having trouble shutting down my machine or restarting my machine. My hard drives will fall asleep and the monitor turns goes blank, but the system stays on. Eliade has been helping me over at the EP45-UD3R guide thread, but we are having no luck getting rid of this issue. Spec: • 10.6.2 • Chameleon RC3, boot file v10.5 • Kexts ( packed in Extensions.mkext and renamed Extensions folder ) • ALC889A.Fix.kext ( From first post in this thread ) • Disabler.kext ( From RC3 ) • fakesmc.kext ( v2.5 netkas site ) • IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext ( d00m42 Pack EP45-UD3R Guide ) • OpenHaltRestart.kext ( From d00m42, Same one from psystar ) • SleepEnabler.kext ( Netkas for 10.6.2 ) • Running Stells DSDT ( pulled out of magic package.. Think thats stells ) I have tried running OpenHaltRestart.kext from /S/L/E instead of /E with no luck either! Another small issue. My server and other computers on my network do not show up in finder, but I can connect to my server by going to, go, connect to server!

projekt k
good guide, will most likely give it a shot next year when I have the money to pick up a new 1 TB drive for the install. here are my questions... 1. Will it effect my 10.5.6 install? I want to keep that around for now since I have a lot of that drive that I don't feel like migrating over. Also I use pro tools and would prefer to continue to use that install for now untill pro tools releases their official snow version rather than their current pre-release for it. From the looks of it I should be fine right. I mean it won't effect any of the kext edits on my current install right... also I want a clean 1 TB drive for snow since I already am down to 60 GB's on my 10.5 install. 2. Is 64 bit working yet?
