ptaylor
Since the file that someone else built and uploaded of CotVNC (for Intel) isn't available now, I compiled a copy myself. This one is a univeral binary, so it should work no matter which hardware you have. In case you don't know, CotVNC is a VNC client, which allows you to remote control machines (PCs, Mac, or otherwise) running a VNC server. ptaylor
As a side note to anyone using the PPC version of CotVNC on an Intel... Do yourself a favor and try the Universal binary.. Before compiling this, I remote controlled a machine with the PPC version and it seemed to do alright in terms of keeping up with what the remote machine was doing, at first... After a few minutes, it didn't update the screen well, and I saw CPU utilization all over the chart, as high as 80% when I was getting a lot of activity from the remote machine (though it was mostly much lower). I did have it "lock" up once, where I could no longer control the remote... I tried getting back into it a few times, but just got a blank black screen each time. Then, from my PPC Mac, I VNC'ed into it fine at that point and resumed control without any problem. I've since used this Universal build on my Intel and not had any of those issues. jasch
As a side note to anyone using the PPC version of CotVNC on an Intel... I tried the PPC "side" of the universal binary and I would not even connect to my remote servers. I d/l'ed the official version and everything is working ok again. I had only tested this on Intel, but since you had this issue, I downloaded it from the forum and tried it on my Mac Mini. It worked just fine for me... Maybe I had the optimize for a G4 box checked? (You didn't say which processor you had... Do you have a G3?) Paul
