I have the same board and also no sound. Any ideas so far ? Do we have to patsch the DST differently, or is there a kext that can be instaled. I did try some lagacyhda kext but no luck

Do we have to patsch the DST differently, or is there a kext that can be instaled. I did try some lagacyhda kext but no luck Got audio working (see here), but am getting the inadvertant KP after a few minutes of using SL. I can only boot using '-x32 -f' everything else gives me a KP at boot. EDIT: EVERYTHING IS WORKING!!!! rebuild extension caches in single user mode did the trick!! sunkid
Very nice!! Two quick questions and some observations: Have you checked your DVD/CDROM performance? Mine was running very very slow (or so it seemed) when I tried an upgrade of my 10.5.8 install from SL using the SL retail DVD.EDIT 9/8: DVDROM seems to behave fine... maybe a problem with the installer?! Is Bonjour working for you w/out the ifconfig/promiscous mode hack? Mine isn't, but I just found the attached but won't be able to try it until this afternoon (PST). Supposedly, the kext needs to go into /S/L/E and not /E/E.EDIT 9/3: this did not work for meEDIT 9/8: Bonjour is working now with the latest Realtek1000.kext properly installed (see below) Here is some other stuff I found: Possibly related: I am having issues with my auto-mounted iTunes library (NFS share on Centos box). I get server disconnects now from what was before a rock-solid set-up. By the way, Directory Utility is gone and this functionality is now in Disk Utility (File->NFS Mounts...).EDIT 9/3: probably NFS server related but need to investigate further Time machine backups to AFP shares from my Centos box seem to be using a different naming convention now from before. TM tries to create a new sparsebundle that is simply named <computer's name>.sparsebundle. Haven't let it proceed yet though since I want to reuse my old backups but TM won't use the renamed disk image.EDIT 9/8: see my guide to get TM working on Linux AFP share Upgrade from SL retail of a 10.5.8 install while running SL on a different volume does not work as the upgrade process creates and populates a directory on the target volume with all needed packages and then tries to reboot from that volume. I wasn't able to get that reboot to work, maybe others have better luck!? Also, the upgrade using the OSInstall.mpkg method is not clean as old shared libraries are left in place. I eventually just used Migration Assistant to transfer everything from the 10.5.8 install. That's a PITA though if you have a lot of licensed software (in my case Adobe CS3 and SnapZ Pro, for example) that uses disk ids for licensing. Need to reinstall those. Otherwise, rock-solid so far AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext.zip
rcork
I have the same board and got the onboard sound to work using the ALC889A injector from here. This site is in French but just look for 889A. I have this in my Extra/Extensions folder on my Chameleon usb stick. As for bonjour, I'm using the RealtekR1000.kext from Psystar. I installed it to S/L/E using OSX86Tools. Bonjour works perfectly. Very nice!! Two quick questions and some observations: Have you checked your DVD/CDROM performance? That did the trick! Thanks!! btw - OSX68Tools doesn't work for me anymore, but I installed the extension manually: sudo chown -R 0:0 Realtek1000.kext sudo chmod -R go-r Realteck1000.kext sudo mv Realtek1000.kext /System/Library/Extensions sudo kextcache -mkext1 Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions Not sure if the last step is necessary, as SL seems to automatically rebuild its Extension cache now. amd_sony
I used the OSInstall.mpkg method to get 10.6 installed after trying USB and DVD method. A lot of googling and membership to 2 other sites and I got lucky. Audio works too. Hopefully next one won't be so hard! Being a sucker for punishment, I'm going to upgrade to 10.6.1. netfeng
What video driver are you using? I have the same video card with you. But the driver is not properly installed. Previously I had NVInstaller+v.52.pkg working on 10.5.7, but it is not working on SL anymore. Any idea?

sylvester328
I have this board with Q6600 but having trouble with wake on LAN. Realtek1000 kext: wake on LAN doesn't work. The vanilla AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext: wake on LAN works but the machine goes to a "limbo" state when it's put to sleep again (it goes on then off then on then off... every 5-10 seconds, display remains blank) I have to cut the main power stop that. Anyone get that working? Or experience similar issue?
