Hi

Linksys WMP300N v2 With AtherosFix.kext (64 bit mode). After being connected for a few minuts... Kernel Panics.

img0078it.th.jpg

or

img0077uq.th.jpg

Maybe need different version IO80211Family.kext??

10.6.2 - IO80211Family.kext 3.1 (310.6)

10.6.1 ?

10.6.0 ?

I had similarly earlier WinVistax64 /Win7x64. Till the time until I found drivery on the producer chipsets Atheros side (no linksys).

I forced "in between mode" on my computer. My system is a native 64-Bit system, and so by putting "arch=i386" into the Boot.plist, I was forcing 48-Bit Mode.

The default Kext for Wireless worked for me on 10.6.0, then on 10.6.1 of course it decided not to work. So I inserted my install DVD of 10.6.0 RETAIL, and replaced the Kext. It worked perfectly and I have repeated the same thing with 10.6.2.

The 64-Bit version of the Kext I haven't bothered to try, although come the next 10.6 Update, I may remove the i386 string from my Boot.plist and see if it works OOTB, as I have heard rumours that Apple included a 64-Bit Version of this kext in 10.6.1.

Help! I'm am out of options. I have reinstalled 9 different times trying to get this to work properly. I am using the following boot method: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=195248

I have additionally tried with efi 10.5, Chameleon 2 r4, Empire EFI, along with every kext variation and strings added.

I have a GA EP45-UD3P system w/ a DWA 552 (168c0023)

I have installed Atherosfix.kext into /extra/extensions & s/l/e

Also I have updated to 10.6.2 and edited the io80211family/contents/appleairportatheros21

etc... I have even replaced it with variations found in the forum...

So please, anyone, if you can help please give me precise instructions regarding the DWA552, using 10.6.2, on a GA EP45UD3P installed with the AsereBLN Booter - Based on Chameleon RC4 / PCEFI10.5

(yes I have installed with just Chameon 4)

There is still something wrong with this kext that doesnt work for us. The kernel panic is nothing wrong with your particular setup, from what I understand, it happens to all of us that are trying to use this particular atheros chipset with our i5/i7 processors. It's listed on the OSX86 wiki.

"Native 32bit support, recognized as AirPort Extreme, $30. For 64bit AtherosFix.kext required. Causes kernel panic with Core i5/i7 processors."

Hi Everybody

I recently have installed snow leopard universal 10.6.2 on my laptop

It detects my wireless card as an airport and request security key for WPA2 personal.

Connection quality is excellent and antenna sign is full.

Although I can enter to router setting by entering 192.168.1.1 in browser, no net connection is available!!

There is no problem in Win 7 and wireless internet is perfect.

I checked proxy setting and then I tried to disable firewall but no internet connection.

Even with open security setting no net is available.

Where is root of the problem?

My wireless AP is D-link 2640U and wireless card on my laptop is AR5B91

Just installed Snow and had to fix my DWA 522....

So now that I am online, here is the modded kext:

32/64 bit IO80211Family.kext with device id 168c,23

I used 'kext helper' to install...

(/System/Library/Extensions... drag the original kext from the permissioned dir. put it somewhere [backup] and forget about it.)

I couldn't get this kext to work from the extras dir...

(10.6.2 update wiped it out of course and had to re-install.)

I used -v -f boot flags and watched the airport hardware initialize.

(-f is probably not needed with the kext helper method since it flushes mkext and sets permissions...)

Hope this helps the lazy... GL

I highly recommend 'DPCI Manager' for finding device ids... btw

looks like ur device id is not found inside "IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros.kext/Contents/info.plist" anymore...

maybe try adding it...

not sure what the correct format for your card should be. mine was already in there like so:

"<string>pci168c,1a</string>"

good luck!!!
