CptSolo
Yeah that's it... Use the installer but don't install the kexts use osx86 tools to install the ones from this guide. The kext from here don't work? Unfortunately I have a P6T which is slightly different from the P6T Deluxe. The networkchip, the SATA-Controller and the Soundchip are different. But both use the same Southbridge ICH10R. I can only see the HDs connected to the Jmicron, not the ones on the Intel Controller. What kext ist responsible for that? daboat2xblx
daboat... I get the same issue. My board switches around the BSD names for the drives which is probably what is causing this. We're probably going to have to add the boot-uuid=______ flag to the bootloader. I haven't got around to doing it yet though. I'll do it soon and report back if it is the cause. It seems to be more complicated than that for me - I upgraded to fakesmc v2 and it got worse, but then I disabled HT and went to 1 core and it gets much more reliable. Yeah, I looked at the boot and quickly figured out that that wasn't the problem. I went through and reinstalled the EFI partition several times and it doesn't seem to help. If you see more reliability with only one core that kinda points to the dsdt.aml file... What are your system specs btw? Maybe we have something in common. Its looking very much like hardware or something really basic. Asus P6T Deluxe (original) i7 920 (I'm pretty sure I got the original stepping) 2x300gb seagate cheetah SAS drives 2x1.5 TB Seagate Sapphire 4870 Toxic (overclocked heavily in windows) corsair 1000W PSU 6 GB OCZ Reaper DDR3-2000 Lexicon Alpha USB sound card OC: Speedstep, Turbo On, 3.6Ghz most everything on Auto, 1804 Mhz RAM 8-8-8-24 hmmm...maybe the bios is old? I can't really be happy without 4 cores and HT....

dgobe
I have a stable setup in both 32 bit and 64 bit and thought I'd share my /Extra directory with other people that have the Asus P6T Deluxe V2. You can follow the first post through step II© to install Snow Leopard system and Chameleon RC2. Then.... The "boot" file is from Chameleon RC3 and should be used in the first posts step II(d). The dsdt.aml is for a Core i7 920 and it has a SATA fix in it from this post: http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=564 All credit to The_King Warning from setup II(e) applies! Use my files for Section III in first post. You can get the Kext Utility from the first post. Continue from Section IV in first post. Some notes... I had to move VoodooHDA.kext to /S/L/E to get it working. The device-properties string in com.boot.apple.plist is for an EVGA GTX260 896MB, I also have the Built-in Ethernet fix in that string so Time Machine will work. Chameleon's GraphicsEnabler and EthernetBuiltin options did not work for me but feel free to see if they work for you. The fakesmc is v2 from netkas.org I only have SATA so if you need IDE support you'll need the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext from first post. On first boot hit Tab key and type -v -f at the boot prompt to rebuild Extension cache. Good luck! Ignore the above text, New installer here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1387316

stillingen
Thank you for a descriptive and intuitive guide. I´m having some issues with Chameleon though. It saying: "The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance" Any idea what this could be caused by, or is there an installation log I can look in? Edit: This is the output from install.log I´m using Chameleon-2-1.0-r431.pkg Edit2: This issue was due to me running Chameleon on a Macbook Pro with SL. When i ran the same installer on the same disk from av Macbook with Leopard, it was no longer and issue. unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33:~ stillingen$ tail -f /var/log/install.log Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Env: HOME=/Users/stillingen Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Env: USER=stillingen Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Env: LOGNAME=stillingen Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Env: DISPLAY=/tmp/launch-IuNFic/:0 Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Env: SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/launch-HsfrUv/Listeners Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Env: Apple_PubSub_Socket_Render=/tmp/launch-BQrdpV/Render Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Env: COMMAND_MODE=unix2003 Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Env: __CF_USER_TEXT_ENCODING=0x1F5:0:0 Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Chameleon Installation Log Sep 16 21:26:15 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12718]: Opened from: /Users/stillingen/Downloads/snow/Chameleon-2.0-RC2-r640.pkg Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: @(#)PROGRAM:Install PROJECT:Install-572 Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: @(#)PROGRAM:Installer PROJECT:Installer-430.1 Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Hardware: MacBookPro5,4 @ 2.53 GHz (x 2), 4096 MB RAM Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Running OS Build: Mac OS X 10.6.1 (10B504) Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: TMPDIR=/var/folders/Jq/JqjfWOVYFaKu6FO0sgLPpk+++TI/-Tmp-/ Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: SHELL=/bin/bash Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: HOME=/Users/stillingen Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: USER=stillingen Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: LOGNAME=stillingen Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: DISPLAY=/tmp/launch-IuNFic/:0 Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/launch-HsfrUv/Listeners Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: Apple_PubSub_Socket_Render=/tmp/launch-BQrdpV/Render Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: COMMAND_MODE=unix2003 Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Env: __CF_USER_TEXT_ENCODING=0x1F5:0:0 Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Chameleon Installation Log Sep 16 21:27:22 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 Installer[12742]: Opened from: /Users/stillingen/Downloads/snow/SL-resource-pack/Chameleon 2.0 + EFI10/Chameleon-2-1.0-r431.pkg Sep 16 21:27:37 unknown-00-26-08-e7-39-33 runner[12746]: Administrator authorization granted. KariNeko
Thank you for a descriptive and intuitive guide. I´m having some issues with Cameleon though. It saying: "The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance" Any idea what this could be caused by, or is there an installation log I can look in? Edit: This is the output from install.log I´m using Chameleon-2-1.0-r431.pkg Try installing Chameleon prior to running Snow Leopard installation. yibbet
NOTICE: There are currently problems with SATA hard drives on the P6T Deluxe V2, except for your system drive which will work well. So if you are planning on installing only one hard drive to your system, you can go ahead with no worries. The ICH10R chipset on the P6T Deluxe V2 makes secondary drives slow down near null. At the moment the only fix for me (using two SATA HDDs) is to change the sata mode from AHCI to IDE (compatible) in BIOS. See also this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=181981 Have you tried running xbench on your primary drive and accessing your other drives while it's running? Interesting results, at least in 10.5 they work fine until the test is over- weirdness! Someone else on here pointed this out but I can't remember who. This applies to ahci mode obviously- ide (compatible) is fine apart from ports 5 and 6 which don't show up for some reason.

drumz
Its pointing at the DSDT, but somehow fakesmc is related as well.I'm running 1 WD HD, Asus P6T Deluxe V2, i7 920, GTX9800+, no OC or anything like that I fixed it... It was one of two problems: 1. The drives I had were installed to SATA 5 and 6 (the ports that are perpendicular to the board) and both dont work with RC3 (pretty stupid mistake but I didn't look) or 2. BIOS issue: I upgraded to the newest BIOS however I had alot of problems because what ASUS neglects to tell you that you need to update your SAS Firmware after the BIOS update but the SAS firmware is also bundled with the AHCI firmware. When you update your BIOS your AHCI stops working which would be disasterous if you only have hackintosh installs on your computer. There is a way around it but you better be DAMN sure that you are doing it correctly. In order to update the SAS firmware you need a bootable DOS floppy or USB with the updated BIOS AND SAS firmware. Install the BIOS update then install the SAS update (be aware that booting with AHCI enabled will cause freezing). Obviously this is a risky procedure so do it with caution (avoid it entirely if you can). Hopefully the problem is just problem 1. Now I'm going to try to get SL server up and running... It wasn't taking my "Developer" serial last time I tried but I hadn't enabled the networking so hopefully that fixes it. I hope they haven't deactivated all of those serials though.... clesch
Hi, I literally dusted off my desktop machine that I haven’t used for the last few months. I have a P6T Deluxe V2 with a i920 and two 4870s. So I went ahead and installed SL retail to the boot SSD (using my MBP (unibody, 10.6.1) with a USB-SATA adapter), that worked fine. But when I tried to install the included Chameleon package on the target Volume, the installation failed. I’ve tried multiple times and just can’t get it to work: 9/19/09 5:25:20 PM installd[3005] PackageKit: Install Failed: PKG: post-install scripts for "org.chameleon.standard" Error Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=112 UserInfo=0x10041c1c0 "An error occurred while running scripts from the package “Chameleon-2-1.0-r431.pkg”." { NSFilePath = "./postinstall"; NSLocalizedDescription = "An error occurred while running scripts from the package \U201cChameleon-2-1.0-r431.pkg\U201d."; NSURL = "#Standard.pkg -- file://localhost/Users/username/Downloads/SL-resource-pack/Chameleon%202.0%20%2B%20EFI10/Chameleon-2-1.0-r431.pkg"; PKInstallPackageIdentifier = "org.chameleon.standard"; } 9/19/09 5:25:21 PM Installer[2994] Install failed: The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. I’ve found a Chameleon RC3 package that installs successfully but it gives me a Kernel panic every time I boot. dgobe’s zip didnt do the trick for me either. I wonder if the installer error is related to SL being installed on my laptop.
malou
Yeah, I had this problem too. Install RC3 (or RC1, I don't remember) but use the "boot" file from the archive in the first post. Don't forget to use kernel flags ("-x -v -f" or even "-x32 -v -f" or "arch=i382 -v -f" to boot with the 32 bits kernel. I can't boot without -x32 on my P6T Deluxe) EDIT: has anyone been able to get an ide dvd drive on p6t deluxe v2 working in snow leopard? i can't install some stuff without it No, still doesn't work on my setup... searching/waiting for a fix... Got it working!!! Use AppleVIAATA.kext from http://my.ukrweb.info/en/node/73 Both DVD IDE drive up and running. Didn't tried to burn DVD thought. clesch
I ended up using Chameleon RC3 with dgobe’s files and got it working just fine. I believe it failed at first because I didn’t install the kext for my Graphics Cards (EVOenabler.kext), thinking SL would just fall back to vesa and work regardless. Well, I was wrong… SL simply stopped booting until I added the kext for my 4870. Everything works now, thanks for the guide. Doing the initial installation the way you suggested was so much easier than messing with a retail DVD and boot-132, it’s not even funny. PS: since you mentioned it, the 64-bit kernel works just fine for me.
stillingen
Hi all! Thanks for sharing your info, finally got my system up and running! Transferring my stuff from my Macbook as we speak! My setup Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Intel i7 920 2,7Ghz NVIDIA 9800GT 1MB 1TB WDC WD10EADS-00M2B0 SATA I followed wziard guide, but with some tweaks; 0. Initial changes in BIOS and HW . HD in SATA 0, and mode to AHCI. 1. I had a blank system, which i installed iDeneb 10.5.5 on (and formated for SL) 2. Installed Chameleon RC2 on the iDeneb 10.5.5 drive 3. Mounted Mac OS X Install DVD and installed Snow Leopard on an empty Journaled HFS+ drive. 4. Installed Chameleon RC2 on the Snow Leopard drive + all wziard pre-install stuff 5. Booted on SL using hackedintosh handy tips; Just wanted to post my success story.. To anyone experiencing never ending kernel panics: the way I fixed it was by deleting the dsdt.aml supplied in this post, its no good even with same hardware. You must go into bios, disable HT and enable 1 core, and at boot type "cpus=1 -x -v" then use dsdt patcher gui to make yourself a dsdt.aml 6. Followed wziard installation steps in SL and karterilla handy tips With all the info I do have copied in /Extra a modified version of com.apple.Boot.plist that looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <string>bt(0,0)/mach_kernel busratio=23 boot-uuid=YOUR HD UUID</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>VERY LONG HEX VIDEO EFI STRING</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>YOUR SCREEN RES AND DEPTH</string> </dict> </plist> 7.Followed Dojomann handy tips; Remember to edit the info.plist in the platformuuid.kext and insert the UUID of the partition that snow leopard is going to be installed on. Replace the Extra folder on the Root of the usb drive with the one provided. (really you just need to edit out the -f kernel flag I've placed in there, otherwise booting will take forever every time.) Now, with luck you should be able to boot into your new snow leopard install with most everything working out of the box. (if you have an asus p6t deluxe v2 mobo with an nvidia gfx card and a core i7 processor) 8. Ran Kext Utility on Dojomann /Extra/Extension folder 9. Reversed changes from #5 . 10. Booted with all 4 cores. The process was not as smooth as written above, but these were the steps that made it all play;) Couple of things i can´t figure out though; 1. is that my graphics card only output on VGA / Analog. If i connect the DVI / Digital and start up my machine, my screen goes black the moment the graphic driver loads. Has anyone else experienced this / is there a fix for it? 2. I have Mushkin DDR3 6GB (3x2048MB) 1600Mhz , but SL is not recognizing this. Under system info it displays "6GB DDR2 667Mhz" Anyone managed to figure this out? Edit: I left out smbios.plist, once copied over, ram was displayed correct BTW. Does Software updates work hassle free? Edit: Ran SW updated without any hick ups
