ATI Radeon FireGL on Snow Leopard 10A432.

Hi All,

I've got Lenovo Laptop T60p with ATI FireGL V5250 (71D4) Graphic Card. Installed Snow Leopard around a week back and got almost everything working (find the list below).

One Strange thing that i am facing is that the usual mod (ATIRadeonX1000.kext) ie, changing DE71 to D471 is able to bring QE/CI ( found that cause the menu bar is now transparent and other visual effects are enabled) but resolution is stuck at 1400x1050 even after using Graphics Mode in the com.apple.Boot.plist. I tried injecting EFI string but its no good either..

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And thanks for all the support Insanelymac!!

Airport ( Atheros 5212) working out of the box.

Bluetooth (Broadcom ) working out of the box.

PS2 Keyboard/Mouse (Installed VoodooPS2)

DVD-Drive - not working due to improper IOATAfamily.kext

Ethernet ( Intel 82573L ) working out of the box.

USB 2.0 working out of the box.

Graphic Card (ATI Radeon FireGL V5250 (M56 GL) - 71D4x1002) partially working.

Remove/rename ati1600controller.kext, atiframebuffer.kext, atisupport.kext, and iondrvsupport.kext.

Copy your working atindrv.kext, atirndrv.kext, and iondrvsupport.kext from leopard to snow leopard.

That's what worked for me with an x1600 mobility. Yours is closer to an x1700 i think? It should work pretty much the same i believe.

Yes it is closer to X1700 ... Anyway I tried doing just as you said.. but strangely when GUI starts i can see a blank screen with weird colors spreading..

Any other Clues on what to do? or can you give me your kext's i would change the model no and try again..

PS : I never used X1600.kext and changing RadeonX1000.kext to match it like changing 71c5 on both ... Would do that and report back..

Thanks a lot for the response though..

I am stuck with at the same point with just a blue screen and a cursor. Anyone have an update or advise to share?

I got it working .. atleast partially ... please find the steps below:

1) Take a copy of ATINDRV.kext from leopard.

In Snow leo enter the following commands.

Have everything Vanila...

1) mv ATIFramebuffer.kext ATIFramebuffer.kext.backup

2) cp -Rf /User/xxx/Desktop/ATINDRV.kext /System/Library/Extensions/

Then ..

3) hexedit ATIRadeonX1000.kext/MacOS/ATIRadeonX1000 and replace 71DE to 71D4.

4) replace 71DE to 71D4 in Info.plist in ATIRadeon1000.kext.

That should do it..

All the best.

Thanks and Regards.

Hi,

v5250 @1680x1050 is really PITA in Snow.

I'm using dong's latest RadeonHD.kext in S/L/E and modded ATIRadeonX1000.Kext.

With EFI strings or Atinject was capable to have 1024x768 only

Working 95%, i have CI/QE but w/ monitor mirroring some strange colored "psychedelic" artifacts on internal monitor.

But still looking for a solution.
