Hope you wanted it like that !

And Hope that you'll find a solution for me because i bought the retail and i can't use it...

here are your SATA & IDE controller:

00:1f.2 IDE interface [0101]: Intel Corporation 2 port SATA IDE Controller [8086:2921] (rev 02)
00:1f.5 IDE interface [0101]: Intel Corporation 2 port SATA IDE Controller [8086:2926] (rev 02)

03:00.1 IDE interface [0101]: JMicron Technologies, Inc. JMicron 20360/20363 AHCI Controller [197b:2363] (rev 03)

my Abit IP35-E also uses ICH9 non AHCI with same device IDs [8086:2921] & [8086:2926]

you can see my LSPCI @ http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183720

it wont work using AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext by netkas because our device ID not included.

we need to add those dev ID manually to info.plist of netkas's AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext and place the kext into E/E

you can download updated AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext @ http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...amp;pid=1246108

which is already added dev ID for 0x29218086 0x29268086:

<key>ICH9 2 Port Serial ATA</key>
<dict>
<key>CFBundleIdentifier</key>
<string>com.apple.driver.AppleIntelPIIXATA</string>
<key>Controller Name</key>
<string>ICH9 2 Port SATA</string>
<key>IOClass</key>
<string>AppleIntelPIIXATARoot</string>
<key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key>
<string>0x29218086 0x29268086</string>
<key>IOProbeScore</key>
<integer>2000</integer>
<key>IOProviderClass</key>
<string>IOPCIDevice</string>
<key>PCS Port Map</key>
<data>

</data>
<key>Serial ATA</key>
<true/>
<key>Supported Transfer Modes</key>
<string>0x3f061d</string>
</dict>

also it will need E/E/JMicronATA.kext for our JMicron SATA/IDE controller.

you can follow my Snow install guide @ http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183720

read "Terms & Conditions" section about where HDD should be installed.

Did anyone ever the ASUS P5K SE/EPU to boot properly? I have the same Intel controller as vbxeric but no Jmicron and I also have this Marvell IDE interface. I only have 4 physical SATA ports so I'm assuming the Marvell interface is for physical IDE, not SATA configured as IDE. Is that true?

I did my original SL install using Empire EFI, and used the included myHack installer which had option to install AppleIntellPIIXATA.kext and IOATAFamily.kext. This still gives waiting for root device when trying to boot, tried switching AppleIntellPIIXATA.kext with the one from Arial that includes my device id's and I got KP. Should I not have installed IOATAFamily.kext? Any ideas?

Hey guys, yesterday, i installed SL on my SATA drive to boot it with Chameleon.

First boot in verbose gave me a Still Waiting For Root Device. So i tried to boot in 32 bits (with -x32), then i obtain a Kernel Panic. I looked in my Bios (I'm using a Asus P5K SE/EPU) but i can't activate the AHCI, there is no option for it. I tried to put Sata Configuration in Compatible, it doesn't work again.

Does anyone have an idea for my problem ?

Thanks and sorry for the english (i'm french ;))

There is a solution check: Fix for IOATAFamilt

Has anyone had any success installing 10.6.3 to a board without AHCI? I cannot find a version of IOATAFamily.kext that works with 10.6.3 for a board without ahci. Even the MyHack installer seems to error out with 10.6.3 for me. I get the dreaded still waiting for root device.

Any help would be much appreciated!

ENABLING AHCI ON P5K SE/EPU

P5K SE/EPU doesn't feature AHCI mode on the J-Micron SATA controller because (I think) AHCI is an Intel patent.

I have installed SL on a SATA Drive. It's a way to enable AHCI by flashing P5K SE Bios with the P5K-R 703 BIOS.

I know this is an IDE Thread, but I'm posting here because:

1) We all have the same motherboard

2) If you have the chance to use a SATA disk, you can now enable AHCI for it, and it runs really fast and smooth.

3) I've spent weeks searching for this information, so I'd be glad to share it with other users.

*** WARNING: That BIOS flash caused my Marvell IDE never boot from IDE DVD-ROM again. It seems to be a known issue of this method, but I solved that problem installing a SATA DVD-RW (it's cheaper than a new Mobo). ***

If you want to go on, Google 'P5K SE EPU AHCI' and look for an asus forum link.
