As pcrew says, you will need to fix your permissions and rebuild your Extensions.mkext. Or to be honest, it's far simpler to re-install from a USB drive if you have one available as this will stop any permission errors and just works. It will probably take you less time to do this than to try to fix your current install.

Do you mean to install SL again from SL? Because I have the problem that I was able to install SL from Leopard but now I can't repair permissions because it doesn't find any packages...

No I mean build a bootable disk with Chameleon & the SnowLeopard installer on to a USB drive (or 8GB memory stick) from Leopard and install SL by booting from it the USB drive. Chameleon will handle the boot process to allow the installer to run. That way it's just like you're installing from the DVD with a real mac.

Is there any way to avoid this and repair the installation? The disk utility can obviously not repair. Are there other problems to expect and how can I repair permissions?

just open the image/dvd of snow leopard looking for invisible files. Go to System/Instalation/packages and rerun BSD.pkg.

it will allow u to fix your permissions

Thank you so much! This really helped me. Is this the only thing I have to fix because I installed from another OS?

Hi!

Try to apply Time machine Fix. You can try PCWiz's Universal OSx86 Installer (UInstaller) selecting your Snow Leopard boot disk in the combo box and selecting the check box "Apply Ethernet EFI String (Time Machine Fix)" only.

That adds to your com.apple.Boot.plist an string like this:

<key>device-properties</key>

<string>4b00000001000000010000003f0000000100000002010c00d041030a0000000001010600051c0

The next is my com.apple.Boot.plist complete:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string></string>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string>None</string>

<key>device-properties</key>

<string>4b00000001000000010000003f0000000100000002010c00d041030a0000000001010600051c0

101060000007fff0400160000006200750069006c0074002d0069006e0000000500000001</string>

</dict>

</plist>

P.S.: I Hope this works for you as well as me

Sorry for my English.

Best Regards
