No sleep on close with Macbook?

Hi. I'm new here, so I'm not sure if is the right forum. Sorry if it isn't.

Anyway, my girlfriend just got a new white 2.0gHz Macbook and she's really enjoying it (I'm jealous of her) but the one thing we don't like is how it always automatically sleeps when the lid is closed, which also turns off the network. We searched for an option to turn this off, but to no avail. Is there any way to set the Macbook to not go to sleep when the lid is closed?

Thanks.

Insomnia.kext, as you can probably guess from its name, prevents the mac from sleeping, ever. It works on hackintoshes so presumably it'll work on the real thing.

Its an opensource kext for ppc macs, which a forum member recompiled for intel:

hth.

Hmm. I don't know if I want it to never sleep...I like the sleep function, I just want to have the ability to keep it awake when I close it if I desire.

obv this is a nice thing to have, but simce heat goes up - probably through the keys - do you want all that heat going through the screen??

I know i dont.... :)

Come on, they don't run thathot. :P

It's not really for extended use, just for when I need to get up for a few minutes but I want my network to stay up (like when I'm downloading a torrent and I get up to take a {censored}) :)

You can wake the macbook from sleep with an external keyboard or mouse.
