tegstewart
I've got an old iBook 500MHz G3 with 256 MB of RAM. I'm running Tiger on it, and the biggest bottleneck is memory. While I trying to scavenge up a RAM upgrade, it's not going to happen in the immediate future, so right now ever meg is precious. I started by using Onyx to disable the dashboard and Monolingual to remove unnecessary languages/architectures. That done, I'm going through Activity Monitor, and wondering which processes I can stop from running to save memory. UniversalAccessApp in particular is getting on my nerves, it uses between 3 and 10 MB of real memory even though I've disabled everything it does including the mouse scroll zoom option. Are there any other processes I can do without, how do I block them from running, and do you good folks have any suggestions on how I can further streamline Tiger? Thanks!
