9600gt 1024mb

hey all, i'm working on a gigabyte p45ud3l board with 10a432 and things are looking good. we got the random kernel panics after first boot with 64 bit but i just switched to 32 for the moment.

dsdt.aml created with acpi patcher is being used for sound with legacyhda.kext

networking was working out of the box realtek 81111

netkas's efi 10.1 along with fakesmc and ichx kexts are also being used (love ya netkas)

the video is not working unfortunately, it's just a generic nvidia vga mode right now with no acceleration. in leopard we were succesfully using nvdarwin injector.

i've tried creating a custom efi string using the name of the card (does this really matter or can i just name it whatever i want?) the mem size and dvi-dvi. the card is actually dvi, vga, hdmi i believe but i just need the dvi working. i've also tried insterting the devid in nvda50hal.kext and nvdaresman.kext which is possibly not necessary but didn't make a difference anyway.

anyone else trying the 9600gt or other 9xxx series cards on 10a432 that have had more success?

i've specified the resolution of the monitor in boot.plist, (1680x1050) could this be causing a generic vga driver to load?

EDIT reinstalled and used nvdarwin.kext for 1024mb that had been working for 10.5 using ideneb install. fixed permissions with kext utility and things are good. i'm not sure why the efi string didn't work but i didn't even try it after the reinstall.

...I saw you have a 512 MB 9600 GT. Would be nice to get your EFI String for that Card. I have a Sparkle 9600 GT 512 MB Silent Version.

How did you create the EFI String? I tried some with the result of a hangin SnowLeo!

You can mail it at derpuma@gmx.net

Even if you have a EFIStudio with the Cards Settings (plist)...

hey charlie

can you specify how you did this?

did you install retail DVD and then post-installed nvdarwin.kext? could you please tell me step by step what you did from working EFI string without acceleration to this now? i would be VERY grateful.

i'm still stuck with my working 9800GT 1024MB with no hardware acceleration, seems the same problem as you had.

My EVGA 1024MB 9500 GT is working fine under SL. I just used the NVcap to generate an EFI string. Marionez's thread outlines how to get the NVCAP for your particular card, so do check it out

yes, might be looking fine, but it doesn't seem like you have hardware acceleration, so you could just as well go with an onboard gfx ;)

i installed from the leopard partition (ideneb 10.5.8) followin the guide from d00m42. when i booted i got generic graphics, not accelerated.

then i used kext utility to install nvdarwin.kext that was working fine from the leopard install. (1024mb version)

kext utility was key http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140647
