I have installed iaktos v7 on my dell, but I could not get the right resolution and QE is also disabled.

I read the following post on fixing and installing video kext:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...00#entry1212722

But I am new on this Kext thingy, how do I install the Kext downloaded from the above mentioned post.

Appreciate your help. Thank you so much.

Easiest way for you to do it would be to get the Kext Helper then drag and drop onto to it for install.

MacUser, thank you very much.

I downloaded the zip file but it is a kext folder instead of kext file, do I drag the folder into Kext helper in this case?

Do I need to remove any old kext file?

Appreciate your help.

Yes you drag the folder onto it, for future reference all .kext files are special folders that Apple uses for its drivers so it is normal to see a folder when they are extracted from a .zip. From the thread it looks like you will be overwriting the already existing GMA950 .kext so you should not need to remove the old one. You may want to backup the original file first as I am not sure if the helper does this if you open the Terminal program the use the sudo -s command and type in your password you will be root user then you can use this command to backup.

 cp /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMA950.kext /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMA950.kext.backup
