Hi there, i have been registered to this forum almost from the beginning of its creation, and have never had serious problems -except perhaps login problems from time to time- up until now. There's a thread going on some time now, in the Your language subforum, where us Greeks have been talking. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=144483

The topic is about creating a separate Greek subforum like the ones already in existance for other languages. However, that is not the reason i started this here topic.

I believe that action must be taken, concerning administration/moderation of this site. Reason is, if you take a closer look at the writtings, you'll see that a Moderator (Daveta) has placed a comment, which i find bitter and insulting!

Thus, i replied demanding an explanation. No answer as of yet. So, i'm addressing the admins here, to take all necessary actions to either expect from this individual to apologize for what was said, or even consider his/her moderation abilities.

You don't just say to foreign-language users to speak English in a subforum named Your Language. That's simply where everybody uses their native language!!

Looking forward to a resolution on this, and thanks in advance..

Agree with downlord. For requesting new sections it is also better to talk directly to an admin instead of posting about it at the momment. The administration/moderation of the site is going to change in the near future.

@ipoco: I still need an explanation from him directly, anyone else's interpretation won't do. Don't you think so?

By the way, for your information, since you mentioned it, although i wasn't the topic starter concerning the Greek subforum creation, I have written to 2 members sending a request, both to at465 and to macgirl since October 2008! -still no response.. What are we to do then? If they weren't the right people to bother, they could simply say so.

And to reply to downlord's comment about the topic, please consider the fact that creating such a subforum addresses people who have no knowledge of English or very little. We were trying to see how many Greeks agree about it..

1. The only people that can create subforums are Administrators, so pm'ing macgirl is completely and utterly useless (this is general Invision Powerboard info, nothing InsanelyMac specific).

Also, to explain why she didn't reply: Moderators get hundreds of pm's asking for help with various issues, and unless it directly relates to *moderating*, and *only* moderating, it's easiest to delete them, since no moderator is obligated to provide any help at all, most just choose to. Some moderators get discouraged at the amount of help they're expected to provide (especially someone as active as macgirl), so it's no surprise she ignored it.

2. at465, directly on his profile says "Last Seen: 16th July 2008 - 09:48 AM", and you pm'd him in December of 2008.

Make sure the admin you're pm'ing is still active.

I'm sure ComplexMind or Ed will easily make one if either of them see this forum, or if someone messages them, as it's not an unreasonable request.

@realityiswhere: Now that is very reasonable! Thank you for pointing out the fine details, haven't thought of it that much, i guess i should've been more carefull who i was asking.. I'll give it a try with the appropriate people now that you mention it!

Nevertheless, this has nothing to do with Daveta's comment.

Well, it's been two weeks now, i tried contacting the two admins you suggested, the one could not receive pm's, the other has not responded (yet). Pm was sent on the 16th of August, so i wouldn't call myself impatient...

Oh well, we'll see!

Well folks, the year is near its end, and as you can probably see, there's been no action taken for my request..

The same user who got me thinking negatively has come to "new action" by starting a thread titled " how many greek members are here?" (please see http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=201800)

Now, is it me thinking weird about this, or maybe not? I mean, has any of the other "foreign language" subforum categories been asked how many they are before they could get their section? Please try to get in my shoes for a moment, and understand what i'm saying. Do i (or the sum of Greek users) have to start begging just in case someone decides to take some action? If that's the case, i'd really like to know.

Not meaning to insult anyone, or tire anyone to do something, but i hope my request was logical and that it will soon be taken care of. By the way, happy holidays to everyone,

Lia

While I do find that the post was a little abrupt and such, his post was not meant to be offensive or anything. To let you in on the loop a little it is being discussed amongst the staff to maybe have one made. I don't know the history of the other language forums so I can't pass a comment on that. I'll let you know what happens.
