Aspire One dual/tri problem

Greetings all.

I recently got into the dual and tri booting on my aspire one. Almost had it working once, but goofed my third install (Ubuntu 9.04) and had to start over again.

When I did it the first time, I was using the XP Home that came with the Aspire. I repartitioned the hdd with gparted by resizing the XP part to 80Gb, added a 30 Gb ntfs (later reformatted) for OSX and (under an extended partition) an ext and swp drive for linux. After installing ipc 10.5.6 ultimate with ppf5, everything was GREAT. I could boot both XP and OSX.

Fast forward to starting over again...

This time I installed XP Pro SP2 since I wanted the full options and none of the slowing {censored} that acer puts on their machines. Install was fine and I got everything running. But didn't install any updates for SP2. Gparted allowed me to once again setup the partitions for all three. Installed OSX again and it ran fine. When I booted, I could go to it and it loaded. However, when I tried to select the XP partition, it blue screened and restarted. Couldn't even boot in safe mode. The only thing that worked was OSx. (Which was cool, but I couldn't use the XP for all the other stuff.)

Anyhow, is there anything that I might have missed by installing XP SP2 that wouldn't allow it to run under the chameleon boot loader. I went through the process again of installing XP pro last night and will be installing any and all updates I can. Will this increase my chances of a better install? I had even tried to do an Acer recovery to go back to XP Home, but after the crash, it wouldn't even let me do that. Pretty harsh. If I have to, I could try it again since I have a working install. (Fixed the MBR with the XP Cd just in case.)

Thanks in advance for any insight, comments or help in this matter.
