Even after 48 hours from the official relase of Mac OS X 10.5.8 from Apple we are happy to announce the release of the upgrade kit Delta and Combo of the version 10.5.8.

You can install both the updates KIT on others OSx86 distros ( for example Kalyway, Leo4All, iATKOS, iPC, etc.. ) and works on Intel/AMD SSE2/SSE3 systems.

The delta version has a size of 292 Mb, but you must have installed Mac OS X 10.5.7, while for the combo version ( 775 Mb ) you can update your system with all version of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.

The updates allow you to keep all main patch installed with the distro ( es. AppleHDA.kext, AppleSMBIOS.kext, AppleACPIPlatform.kext, IONetWorkingFamily.kext etc.. ) and you can find the original files instead in Kext Disabled.

After upgraded, you can use iDeneb.Tool.v10.5.8.mpkg for install all patches, original files and others utility.

For more info and download, you can visit the official site of iDeneb.

Log in on the main page of their site until the login box on the download page shows you're logged in (refresh a few times). Also try to allow cookies from there etc...

So I do have a question about the iDeneb.Tool.v10.5.8.mpkg, the 10.5.8 extensions in it are compatible with what systems? (I've got an Intel dual Xeon here with ESB2 southbridge & 5400 series MCH, system profiler has never shown all 12Mb of cache on these cpu's, only 6 as in a consumer quad core.)

Problem after ugrade:

From IDeneb 10.5.5 to IDeneb 10.5.8 using IDeneb Combo upgrade. After reboot i receive:

Extension "com.apple.driver.ApplePCIPlatform" has inmediate dependences on boot com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style.

Still waiting for root device

Still waiting for boot device....

I use Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L an Sata hard disk.

Anyone knows how to fix?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, update from iDeneb 10.5.7 worked fine. Booted up with the voodoo kernel, then installed the voodoo 9.5.0 kernel with iDeneb Tool to make it the default (that's right, yeah?).

One bug was I lost QE & CI on my x1950xt after the update. I reinstalled empty_skull's beta 10.5.7 driver again, but still no qe ci joy. I then reinstalled empty_skull's 10.5.6 kexts with kext helper, rebooted and now all is good.

I installed delta update and everything still works great! I had to reinstall the battery bundle, i mean i backed up the previous powermanagement.bundle and repair permissions.

I still use my voodoo controller... about the kernel i was using voodoo 9.5.0, but with the update, now is vanilla 9.8.0 and i'm lovin' it! smiley.gif

Is not necessary to reinstall the seatbelt.kext

I also updated my bootloader, from chamaleon 2rc1 to 2rc2, using the package included.

My my laptop is a LG R510...

PS: i had 10.5.7 version, updated using a ideneb combo 10.5.7 from a iPC DL 10.5.6

Thanks a lot! However, it would be really good if you could share the files through famous torrent sources too, like ThePirateBay or Demonoid, because Megaupload is blocked over here. Torrents can be shared much easier.

Thanks again for the effort and time.

Sorry but this update doesn't work.

I am upgrading from iDeneb 10.5.6 to iDeneb 10.5.8 but I get "Still Waiting for root device error" after upgrade to 10.5.8.

I made a backup of the kexts in the Extensions folder before trying to upgrade to 10.5.8 but don't know what command to write on terminal on the iDeneb DVD to get the back up kexts restored.

Please advise?

Updated iatkos v7 and ideneb 10.5.7 using this update and it worked for me.

On ideneb i did -v and typed vanilla like the directions stated but it would not boot so i had to go into use my second install to go into the drive and repair permissions and that worked fine for me.

In iatkos i did the same thing by typing -v -f vanilla and all was ok.

In both i had to reapply some backup kexts but that was no biggie for me.

Thanks Jack Layne for the kit :(

Using the software update rendered one of my installs useless

For people having trouble booting back into you system

try repairing permission that worked fine for me. If not try -v -x -f commands so that you can see what is going on etc.

i used the combo upgrade kit to update my hackintosh desktop and notebook (sony) VGN-NS11Z) . Both were in 10.5.5.

For my desktop, after 2 reboots, everything goes flawless and for my notebook, one reboot was enough.

So, my desktop had a kalyway 10.5.5 distro and the notebook had a ideneb 10.5.5 distro.

I have a dual boot on both systems (Seven & OSX 10.5.8)

For my notebook, the GC is an ATI 3430 mobility, i've never had CI/QE enabled.

Thanks to ideneb for their upgrade kit.

Ok, I just updated from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 using the iDeneb Delta Upgrade Kit and it works perfectly. I ran the update, and my system booted up as usual afterwards. However, I was wondering, am I supposed to use the iDeneb Update Tool to install "Original Kext 10.5.8," "ACPI Kext," "SMBIOS Extensions," or any of the other patches included?

I originally did a vanilla install from the retail DVD 10.5.6 using the Weaksauce guide. My hardware is listed in my sig.

Everything seems to be working fine at the moment, but I wanted to be sure if I am supposed to install the patches from the Update Tool or not.

Thanks

Since this update I have been getting infrequent/random but annoying kernel panics without any errors in system Console/logs, with system audio muted they've gone away. AppleHDA related I'm sure, am using the 883 injector (3 ports) from the iDeneb 1.5.1 install cd.

this is how I update my iDeneb 10.5.7 to 5.8. First I made a backup of my extensions folder, than I updated through apple update, just like real mac , of course it didn't boot, so I booted in Windows 7, installed mac drive, opened my os x hdd, deleted extensions, copied and pasted my backed extensions, rebooted my system using any os x DVD, from DVD I repaired hard drive and permission, rebooted again , I chose safe mode -x -f , viola booted into OS X , from OS X I used OSx86 utility to repair extensions/permissions again, rebooted and it works like a charm, video/audio, everything. so try this method.

iDeneb 10.5.7 update to 10.5.8 with Delta Upgrade didn't work, hangs at "still waiting for root device."

MSI P35 Neo-F, Q6600, 6 gigs of DDR2 (maxmem=3072), 500 gig SATA drive, DVD burner SATA, GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB.

Everything working with 10.5.7 except for the memory >3 gigs, I reckon it has something to do with the drives which seem to be running in IDE mode. Strangely my BIOS doesn't have AHCI option available, only IDE/Disabled!
