hi guys I have a dell inspiron 530s with the intel GMA x3100 and I've tried just about everything I could find online and nothing makes a difference. It always works only problem is I only get 1024x768 res (with million colors).

my last attempt was to remove the x3100 kext and install the new Intel GMA X3100 10.5.7.mpkg and still no go. (I'm running Leo 10.5.7)

I have a 21" monitor and If you know a way of change the res manually or fixed this problem please help me out as I work on this computer and this is really bad for my eyes.

see picts attached.

Did you install iAtkos v7 (10.5.7)? I've got a Dell Inspiron E1405, installed iAtkos v7, Intel GMA 950 (laptop) for my graphics, and it has the same issue. I don't think the video card drivers included are working perfectly in this.

actually its version iatkos v5 well I hate to say it but I think we have to get another card which in my case is really hard since I have the smaller case so not all of them will fit. well good luck to you.

I have built a Shuttle SG31G2 with x3100 video - system installed from iAtkos v7 and the same problem as you i.e. 1024*768 only & no QE/CI.

Have tried SwitchResX without success. Is there something I can do by deleting/replacing some kexts? (e.g. Apple...FrameBuffer or some ...Intel... ). I believe that I installed all the Intel graphic drivers (e.g. EFI string or GMA950) Would removing some help here? What makes this more difficult is that the person using the machine is not a hacker herself and is now in Brazil! So any fix would need to be simple and safe.

Everything else works well and it's a really nice machine so a shame that she can't get correct screen resolution - not as concerned about QE/CI but would be nice....

If you need any output from System Profiler, terminal or com.apple.boot to help diagnose then let me know.

Thx in advance

Michael
