Racism at Apple

Haha - I wondered when someone would bring up the black/white "racism" thing.

But hey, like Michael Jackson said, it's doesn't matter if you're black or white. :)

I'd rather drop the money on upgrading the RAM or atleast getting an ipod nano ...getting black isn't worth $150 to me. Besides the fact that the thing looks like a thinkpad with an apple logo on the lid.

Apple is just trying to get people to pay more to get a Mac laptop that looks like a PC notebook. I would really just stay with the white Macbook. It looks more "Macish" to me. That black one looks like a Mac clone more than a real Mac.

Not sure if it's just me, but I'm not really liking Apple's new black/white colour scheme. I can settle for maybe a black iPod (my favourite is still the U2 pod, which looked really nice with the red highlights), but I'm just not liking it in a Mac. And the extra price tag would be an obvious deterrent...

I say, bring back the clamshells! (Or, perhaps someone is feeling daring, and would like to casemod a Macbook for me?)

Why racism. Apple released a black laptop and now rasicm. I think there was racism before when there were only white ones. And hey what dont you stop with the racism. Everytime there is black and white you talk about racism.ARhhhhhhhhhhh. And just to fire up the racism I love the white and I think the black is {censored}:)

The only color that matters here is Green.

Apple knows that we're all sick of "Kitchen Toaster White" on our Macs and that people are going nuts over the black ones. (So if you want to draw a racial analogy, the black ones are more popular and therefore better in Apple's eyes) so they can charge more for them and milk our desire for a Mac that doesn't look like a toaster.

Of course Apple is racist, why do you think they made iPods white? :)

I heard the computer that's replacing the current PowerMac line is going to be yellow and have a very advanced firewalling system. Apple is a people-computer.

Now lets all unify under the Apple logo in a diversely unified division.

iPods were white, until the U2 edition and then the Nano, and now the Video. Apple is just starting to deal with the fact that we won the civil war.

I thought they were also gold, silver, pink and green before getting black... Wonder how that goes with that theory?

Also, I remember some weird colors when iMacs first came, as the first iBook did too... I haven't seen anyone with grey skin till yet... wait, yes I have: Wacko Jacko ;) or blue, or tangerine?

And there already were some black Apple laptops before... and that's only 6 years ago... short of mind?

The whole idea that Apple is racist is a load of {censored}. People aren't white or black, even though the terms are used that way. The color (or lack of color) chosen for a machine has nothing to do with racial bigotry. Only selling MacBooks in predominantly caucasian neighborhoods would be an example of Apple being racist. picking white or black as the color for your computer is an aesthetic thing.

When Apple releases brown and sand colored MacBooks and puts the brown ones in the back of the store so no one sees them you guys can shout racism from the tallest buildings and I'll support you. Until then, this is just a joke.

Besides, the black one seems to be more popular... where's the racism there?

Did you just completely miss the tongue-in-cheek nature of this thread...? Nobody was seriously suggesting racism, just that the price difference was odd.

Sorry, yeah... just got carried away.

I'm surprised they didn't give it a unique edition name like they did with the black/red ipod being dubbed the u2 ipod... throw some marketing at me atleast. tell me it'll make my apple stand out when everyone else has just the white one just something. personally i'd take whitie without any problems and drop the $150 on upgrades
