Burpethead
Hey GA-EP35-DS3L owners, Since motherboard manufacturers will never learn to send e-mail alerts when BIOS's are updated, I'll just let you know. A couple months ago I wrote to Gigabyte support about BIOS version F6a (beta) and asked if this version would ever be completed after 8 months development. They responded with no comment basically, but now it is released. Release notes only state that it supports "Xpress BIOS Recovery", whatever that is. However I immediately noticed AHCI being updated to version 1.20E as compared to 1.07 in F6a / F5. It also reflects it in System Profiler: Cool! Feels good to have a 2009 BIOS now Update available here: http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Motherboard...=2778#anchor_os
nathan7
Cool. My F6a shows 1.20 in System Profiler. Does the 1.07 after the BIOS screen change?

Hey bud 1.20 is the only feature you want, it triples the loading time of the ahci detect mechanism. It increases loading performance, its like a new computer. Burpethead
Further discussion on this topic is already being discussed here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=168690 And answering a question from above - 1.07 was shown in the BIOS in version F6a, but 1.2 in F6 final for me. swinte
Finally took the plunge and updated my EP35-DS3L. Like others mentioned it boots much faster now! All other functionality is unchanged (running 10.5.6 per Weaksauce's excellent guide).

sneezymarble
I just updated my ep35 from F4 to F6 today. For the past year and half I've been running my Q6600 at 3.6GHz just fine, but recently the machine would not make it past the boot screen at that frequency. I updated the BIOS to F6 and things are working just fine now. I don't know if it's just coincidence or what.
