Eli Mitchell Posted July 13, 2009 Share Posted July 13, 2009 I have a first generation iMac Aluminum (20" 2.4Ghz), and my optical drive (8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)) recently decided not to function properly. It's a mechanical problem that can be described as such: Insert the disc=> drive makes the usual noises as when disc is inserted=> drive's gears make funny noise=> drive decides to eject disc=> eject fails=> drive makes the usual noises as when disc is inserted=> drive's gears make funny noise=> drive decides to eject disc=> eject fails...and on she goes. Finally after several hours of this the disc will eject (I have only done this twice because it is so annoying). I am wondering if anyone has heard of/had similar problems.
