raymondh
I'm wondering if Apple could simply stop selling retail disks and only offer disks similar to the system restore disks that come with Macs. Wouldn't this end the ability to install OS X on non Apple hardware?
krrr
when you discuss this topics, why give apple such ideas ? if they dont do it, dont give them ideas atleast. this is /facepalm post.
Daveta
i think no, because hackintosh is a very BIG BIG advertising....just closed which sell hacked pc, but simply hack no. IMHO
Marclh
I don't think they will stop it because most people who make Hackintoshes buy actual Mac's when they have enough money.
qualchrone
if only they wanted to stop that, it would not stop hack the tosh though

Hugo_bee
my opinion is that Apple maybe can fight with legal forces to censure or close a website but only if that website is making a real damage to Apple. So the real topic would be/mean: what of that forum is damaging Apple and why? Then we can argue and sit in a limbo.. thinking (as you -> you've declared automatically that you consider that website a damage to apple and you're afraid that'll be closed) that we are together thieves and we're Fu--ng Apple. Or in the other side thet we're helping Apple in order to complete the big troubleshooting, applying our brains in order to do infinite combinations of test into infinite combinations of hardwares! If you think it as a great job.. (a job that I think in Bill Gates's home is very poor because of its very very bad operating system.. ) I think that we are volunteer at the dependencies of Steve Job. Why don't ask a salary ??! The true.. as usual.. is in the middle.. we're forcing the limit but we prefer to celebrate the wonderful world of mac.. not to damage it. and because most of the users of that forum have ALSO a mac or in the future will have one.. that is enough for Apple.. is a fluent increase of marketing. as wrote daveta

2k7bkr
So did I, bought 2, 2nd hand, of course. I too have a real iMac... I think apple should strongly consider making their OS Pc available, just pick and choose a few key manufactures to work with, and driver issues would be minimized. Windows 7 is good.. but so is Leopard. (just my opinion).
BenCarson
Even if they did block it, someone would "patch" it or simply find another way, i was reading a reoprt one of the apple managers wrote, they were explaining how they were considering adding a component to all the Apple Macs with intel cpus that the installer would have to confirm was there before it installed, but like i said, someone could edit or patch the installation to get it working again. timothys89
I don't think they will stop it because most people who make Hackintoshes buy actual Mac's when they have enough money. agreed. i thought mac was a bs operating system until a few years ago when i first tried a hackintosh. ever sine then i've wanted to get one. this weekend i spent over $3500 at the apple store and am very very pleased with my 17" Macbook Pro. Moral of the story, if I had never used a hackintosh I wouldn't have a MBP and apple wouldnt have my money.

Guest cavallo
Apple knows well 2 things: 1) everyone of its machine is better than similar non Apple; 2) 25% people buys Apple in very few months. Once Pro* is now in any case cheaper than any selfbuilt or bundled same hardware class pc also the big lie about prices is died. In few months i think also the last kind (notebooks) that stands more expensive will be cheaper. Last thing it doesn't exists a Osx going on on without patches, retail also. * In february i have done simulations to choose what was cheaper, 2 quad E5462 2.8 were around 1300 euro. i went on dell site the same class machine with same cpu was 600 euro expensive. It is very easy to say that pc is cheaper, if you build a mini or i mac with hardware you like not the same.....
