Swad
How well do games work in Parallels? I'm assuming that the newer games probably wouldn't work so well, but that older games - like Age of Empires 1 - might. I thought I'd start a thread for talking about this, since it's obviously of interest to many of us.
cyclonefr
games don't work, until there is no driver support under Parallels for video card.
naitram
A little clarification from the lurvely folks at parallels: Parallels Workstation virtualizes VGA and SVGA with VESA 3.0 support video card. This allows you to run any 2D graphic application inside guest OS. Direct3D support is in scope for future versions of Parallels Workstation. So If you're looking to run your older games, I'd say go for it. Just stay away from anything requiring 3d acceleration and let us know how it goes. Colonel
Solitare works great. It's not even choppy! Pinball can be choppy sometimes, but it's usable. EDIT: Minesweeper works great too. I've given it a few test runs and everything runs okay.

Don Luca
Starcraft plays nicely in parallels, which actually is good since the OS X version of Starcraft doesn't work... Worms World Party doesn't work (why?). Half Life should be ok if played in Software Mode (ugly, but better than nothing...) Minesweeper is very fast. Mactelman
3D acceleration doesn't work, because it emulates a virtual video card (it does not virtualize your full card), and it's like 8mb of vram. Maybe one day they'll tie it in with CI.
amdprophet
Yea, Half-Life should run in Software Mode. I used to play it on my P3 450 with an onboard 2mb video card. It's all pixelated and ugly, but it's still fun.
A Nonny Moose
Just to sum things up: SO anything that is Win 98 or less will run really well under Parallels
Don Luca
Just to sum things up: SO anything that is Win 98 or less will run really well under Parallels Nope. Anything that requires an accelerated Video Card will not work in Parallels. If 3D rendering can be done in Software Mode (for example all Unreal Tournament including the last 2004 has the Software Mode) it's allright but it will be hell slow. Every 2D game should be fine. INFNITE
not just gaming, but simple 2D stuff like moving windows around or video playback is a bit sluggish.
