I see no where in your post #1 about 4870.plist Beleive me i looked in your entire ATI* download from deposit files i don't see it anywhere. Or am I totally off.... I already Created the gfxstring so is it not needed after that? mine looks different than your code but its created. Do you not need the 4870.plist file after its edited and created the string? Or do you edit ati.motmot after? My Mac won't boot into safe mode or regualar, so i'm stuck with -S boot until I figure it out:( Can you tell me which *.kext file 4870.plist belongs in and the path? I have 2-3 sec an blue screen and immediately the monitor Acer P221w is shut down to "no signal" message ... what should I do ???? trhis procedure is useful for me ? (I don't have an DVI out +VGA out+HDMI out as in your image, only 2xDVI out in 1st one with dvi2vga the monitor 2nd out free + an dvi2hdmi adapter which I don't use it now...) ! THX !! Only remedy is to boot with -S than mount the file system /sbin/mount -uw / hit enter than type rm -r ATI* boots and you can use it accept no QE/CI. Hope this helps. It was working with the method posted in this thread, with only 1 VGA monitor connected through DVI-to-VGA adapter. I bought a new DVI monitor, connected it to the DVI port and the old one to the VGA monitor. I will get a HDMI to DVI cable ASAP. I deleted all ATI, ATY kexts and natit.kext, and followed your method. System starts and shows the screens you see in the pictures I attached. I am able to click Apple menu, 3times arrow up key, enter, enter and it turns off normally. (I see the movements I do in that weird image in the screen). I am booting up using Chamaleon Bootloader because the drive alone gives b0 error (and as much as I tried, I cannot rewrite my MBR correctly). Can this affect something? (I think maybe that the com.Boot.apple.plist is not being loaded so the string is not loaded). I can boot using -x -v. Any idea? I had to fix the permissions inside the kext files, something that Permission repair didn't do...strange. Now, it works! Two issues remain: a) Sleep doesn't work: The Screen goes of, Harddrives shut down, but the fans still run and the System won't wake up VoodooPower didn't load automacially for some reason, now it does and sleep works, yeah! All that is left now is to fix the screenshakes without using an injector Screen shakes: A known problem with some 4850s that netkas addressed in one of his drivers. But I would like to stick with this solution for now! And isn't the hexcode pretty specific to each card and where it sits on the motherboard? rramon Posted September 3, 2009 Share Posted September 3, 2009 A success story! followed your instructions and everything is working perfectly, THANK YOU! still have ATY_init.kext in S/L/E but terminal says it isn´t loaded, so i guess i´ll remove it.. one tiny thing: i had to use a different dvi2vga adapter which was previously included with my old sapphire 3870 ultimate. the 4850 dvi2vga adapter didn´t work... awesome, thanks again for that tutorial! I do not have Second monitor to check up tried this after updating to 10.5.8, because the patched kexts didnt work anymore. now, it boots correctly, but i only see somethings if i plug in moitor in the slot on "case-side". if i plug in on mainboard.side theres signal out of range. also i can only use resolutions like 1600x1200 an {censored} like that...no 16x9, which worked on 5.7 with the kexts... can anyone help? resolutions first priority ;-) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
