thecos
Here is my system.log renamed as txt system.txt Looks like a lot of _CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35 I googled it and found out it has something to do with the network. I found a few fixes but maybe you can guide me into this as you know more about the network drivers. What do you think? kizwan
................................Looks like a lot of _CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35 I googled it and found out it has something to do with the network. I found a few fixes but maybe you can guide me into this as you know more about the network drivers. What do you think? ................................. I want to correct your statement. I don't know anything about network card driver. I just manipulate & use existing solution available in this forum. This what I think. Use "EFI Studio" or "OSx86 Tools" to add EFI string for "Ethernet" in com.apple.Boot.plist file. It should fix "_CFGetHostUUIDString: unable to determine UUID for host. Error: 35" error. After that update your Mac OS X. I have found almost the same issue (application hung or unresponsive) on my friend's laptop, applying update fix the issue. Have you tried Boot-132 USB that I prepared at post #63 (the first one)? kizwan
thecos
I have already upgraded mac osx last night to 10.5.8 and booted with the cd you posted on #43. I'll make the USB Boot and add the EFI string some time a little later and see if it fixes things

kizwan
Just added the EFI string. Error is still there It seems you need both, UUID.kext & EFI string:- http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php?topic=250.0 You can put UUID.kext in "/Extra/Extensions" folder in Boot-132 USB. Remember to fix permissions & update mkext file (using Terminal):- cd /Volumes/Boot132USB cd Extra chown -R root:wheel Extensions/UUID.kext chmod -R 755 Extensions/UUID.kext rm -rf Extensions.mkext kextcache -a i386 -m Extensions.mkext Extensions kizwan
thecos
I coulnd't manage to create the boot123 USB. Can't see how to restore the image in Disk Utility. But I installed uuid.kext using osx86tools and that seemed to repair the problem. I'm waiting to see if the system is stable.

juanerson
Hi Kizwan, please im sorry for my bad english, i hope you help me with my one GUID disk partitions, i have leopard retal 10.5.8 in the first partition and i want to install xp. Actually i have three visual and one hidden partitions: 1:(hidden), 2:leopard, 3:Fat32(empty), 4:Fat32(empty). My question is: i can install xp in some one 3 or 4 partition in ntfs format during installation? Leaving one partition for Files (I prefer in FAT32 format). I think to use later the chan0 method for boot, what you think? i hope this help to everyone.. Thanks.
kizwan
Ok system runs good and I also managed to make the USB loader which I'll test tomorrow. Thanks How do you manage to restore the Boot-132 USB from post #63? I just realize that I have uploaded dmg file with Read/Write mode & I found out it cannot be restored to a flash drive with this mode. I will update post #63 & write a guide on how to convert Boot-132 USB from Read/Write to default mode (compressed). With default mode it can be restored to a flash drive. kizwan

Simple step-by-step guide:- 1) Boot your PC with Windows Vista DVD. 2) Choose "Repair your computer". 3) Just click next & open command prompt. 4) Enter "diskpart" in the command prompt. 5) If you only have one HDD, enter "select disk 0". OR If you have more than one HDD, enter "list disk" to know which HDD is your GUID disk and then enter select command (if it is second HDD, enter "select disk 1"). 6) Enter "list partition". 7) Enter "select partition 4". 8) Enter "active". 9) Exit from diskpart & command prompt. Reboot with windows xp cd to install xp on partition #4. Before doing above process, make sure you create a bootable Boot-132 CD or USB. Because you will need it to boot your Mac OS X. After windows xp installation, just follow the same process to set back "active" partition to your EFI partition or Mac OS X partition; whichever you use to boot Mac OS X. kizwan

So, after boot in leopard active partition, and have to reinstall the bootloader chamaleon - darwin, which will manage the dual boot, right? Thanks so much. You don't have to reinstall chameleon. After XP installation, you just need to set your EFI partition or Mac OS X partition active; which ever you use to boot Mac OS X; by using Windows Vista DVD. I just don't remember if the bootloader (chameleon) will be broken or not after XP installation. That is why I want you to create a Boot-132 CD or USB so that you can boot to Mac OS X if that happen. If the bootloader broken, we can fix it without reinstalling it. kizwan

I'll do a -v boot and post a photo LE: and here is the photo Referring to your system log file earlier, only this message appear which is normal if you use Disabler.kext or IntelCPUMDisabler.kext:- kernel[0]: ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start - waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out But from the picture there is new message:- ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::pushCPU_CSTData - _CST evaluation failed I don't know if it contribute to your problem. There is nothing different between EFI bootloader & Boot-132 CD or USB. The content of the kexts is the same. I will check again. EDIT: I don't think kexts file for Extra folder is installed to the EFI partition. Did you follow exactly EFI bootloader step-by-step guide at post #63?
