i couldn`t get iphone os 3.0 usb tethering to work. on my desktop hackintosh there pops up a window from network settings, if i like to use the iphone as network interface. if i plug it into my thinkpad x61s, there happens nothing. i`m up2date, 10.5.7 with actual itunes 8.2. iphone 3G 8GB is jailbreaked with actual pwnage (but i think thats not the point, couse on my desktop hackintosh it works).

sys log:

I was curious are you guys in the US with ATT or no? In other words, I'm wondering if a jailbroken iPhone will be able to tether on ATT since I know it won't do it a non-jailbroken iPhone. On a related note, I hate AT&T and the crappy service they provide. Twenty dollars a month for unlimited messaging on top of thirty dollars a month for unlimited data = ridiculous.

I can confirm that Tethering works on non-jailbroken iPhone 3G.

I have it working before I jailbreak it.

ok, i sorted it out. with ideneb 1.4 it never worked, with updated kalyway and updated iPC 10.5.6 always. don`t know wich customization on ideneb was killing tethering. if you have ideneb and tethering won`t work, install iPC 10.5.6!

it also works on jailbroken 3g with os 3.0!

Glad you found the problem (on a high level atleast). I am on a vanilla install. I guess I have to start disabling my kexts one by one and see which one is causing a problem...

Same issue here. I couldn't tether through USB or Bluetooth. Is there a fix?

i have problems with 3.0 tethering on every hackintosh (all vanilla, one iDeneb...., all 10.5.8/same problem on 10.5.7)

BUT-> no problems with usb-tethering... ;)

THE PROBLEM IS over Bluetooth:

i pair my phone, i get the "new-bluetooth-network...bla"-PopUp and thats it: the bluetooth icon in the menu-bar is grayed out! if i click on it, it says: "bluetooth disabled/turned off" < don't know whats there in english (germn install)

any ideas? on tiger hackintoshs the bluetooth tethering works like a charme, hehe, but no usb-tether cause apple didn't built a tiger-driver...
