iBook G4 sleep mode power budget..

Just got a real hairbrained idea! (don't censor, MetroGirl, I said Brain, not @rse :P:

My iBook G4 1.33GHz is actually very efficient when it comes to sleep mode.

It uses one percent of battery charge in between 2 and 3 hours, meaning that

I can get about 24 hours in sleep mode for 10 percent decrease in battery charge.

Still, this makes me wonder if it may be possible to improve on this even further:

Battery is 4400mAh.

10 Percent = 440mAh

440mAh / 24 hours = 18.3mAh / h

That means 18 mA average current draw in sleep mode..

The sleep light is quite strong, so maybe a significant part of the 18mA is caused by this, completely wasted.

The idea was (if this is correct) to replace the sleep-light with a low-current LED which uses only 2mA! ;):D

This could then decrease the power requirements in sleep mode quite a bit.

The point here is of course whether the sleep light already IS such a low-current device?

It gives off rather more light than I would expect of such a device, but my knowledge of LED's has not been updated in a few years, so maybe Progress have changed something here..?

Does anyone have this information?

regards
