The OS Monster!

I had already managed to create a true Cerebus (three operating systems on two hard drives); however, I set myself an even harder task. Adding a fourth operating system to the mix without getting rid of any of the other three was going to be tricky, considering that I had already installed Kubuntu via the Wubi Method, therefore, another 'buntu was out, for both practical and fairness reasons; however, a philosophical descendant of Wubi (UNetbootin) came to the rescue.

How UNetbootin works: UNetbootin is designed to enable the installation of any of several Linux distributions without burning install media, and from within Windows. I chose Fedora Core 11 (though it had not been tested with UNetbootin; however, FC 10 had been), and it performed its shrink-the-NTFS-partition-kickoff-anaconda magic (anaconda is Fedora's graphical installer), and it worked perfectly. Instead of mucking up a working triple-boot setup, I have a series of chain-boots (Chameleon kicks off, between Leopard and Windows 7, which in turn leads to a choice betgween 7, Kubuntu, and FC11 if I choose Windows from Chameleon, or, I can select (from the BIOS itself via F8) to boot directly into FC11).

The upshot - the biggest surprise is the OS Monster's hardware base.
