hello all

today i received the last parts for my new computer, one which i hope to make a hackintosh

my graphics card is the radeon HD 4870 1Gb Toxic ed. (OC'd) and judging from posts on the forums i should be albe to get it to work

i put everything together in about an hour, connecting my card to a gigabyte GA P35-DS3L motherboard

the computer turns on and i've made sure that it's powered directly from the PSU

when i connect it to my monitor, there is simply a black screen

disconnecting it from the card gives the screen's splash screen

i also tried installing my dad's e-GeForce 9800 GT card, already working in his own hackintosh, but got the same result

after trying his card with no luck, im fairly certain the cards are not the problem

this is my first computer build and so i'm not exactly sure as to what would prevent a video card from working

possibly the motherboard is bad?

thanks for any help/ideas

EDIT: teh card is definitely not the problem, as i just swapped it into my dad's setup

he's running an ASUS EP45-DS3L motherboard

the computer actually booted to the desktop with no problems at all, though there's obviously resolution

constraints and all those issues
