i recently moved to XxX.10.5.6.final.2 osx release (i was using iPC 10.5.6 and everithing was fine)

and now i have GUI problems in many plugins using logic 8.0.2... i have the same problem in reaktor 5 , i only see a white square box in the place was supposed to be the plugins

im using the same drivers i was using in iPC

here is some screenshots of reaktor and logic , i hope someone have some ideas of whats causing this:

Sorry I don't have a solution but I've seen it before with other plugins. I don't remember exactly which ones but they did work in Cubase 4 and Wave Editor. I can only deduct that it must be a Logic specific problem and most likely also only on hackintosh.

i was thinking in the same thing , but usign reaktor standalone gives the same problem, its not from logic 8 for sure

must be the release XxX 10.5.6 becouse in the release iPC 10.5.6. i dont have any problem...

i dont have time and pacience now to format and make a fresh install, must be out there a solution for this, maybe some app or kext is missing in this XxX release...

makes sense... becouse XxX is based on retail 10.5.6 DVD and iPC is based on 10.5.4 with updates to 10.5.6

maybe that warez 10.5.6 retail dvd out there have some kind of bug

will be a hell to format and install all my audio stuff again but what can i do... i only use osx for audio producing , i will have to format my pc this weekend if i dont find a solution before

I don't know man. My Leopard is a legit retail DVD bought in a shop.

I suppose it's rather a fundamental graphics issue on hackintosh. There are other weird GUI problems with Voxengo plugins for instance which there's no explanation for yet. Hackintoshes are never 100% Apple hardware however you twist it.

That's good then if you got it working. I'm more of a Cubase guy and occasional Logic user so I'm not really bothered as much.

What's the difference between the two distros then? I'm almost sure there is a graphics issue somewhere which might also explain the other weird problems. Even real Mac Pro users are complaining about graphics glitches all over the place.

XxX is based on retail 10.5.6 ISO and iPC is 10.5.4 with updates to 10.5.6 i dont know more...

one thing is for sure XxX release is faster and solve alot of small problems... (but have that graphic problem)

im going to test this better becouse i love the XxX release , i will make a minimal install (just osx no drivers) and then i will test reaktor and logic to see if the graphic problems still there

I would say the problem is related with the graphics drivers, no with the distros themselves. In my opinion is the combination of different elements (distro, graphic card, graphic driver, injection method, motherboard probably, etc) that triggers this kind of graphic glitches.

Try booting without graphics drivers (removing the kexts for your card) in VESA mode and see if the bugs still there.

The other day I was playing around with the DSDT tables of my laptop. Specifically with the graphic card section (GMAx3100) which is supported OOTB but is a bit laggy (Im running a 18 months old retail 10.5 installation updated to 10.5.7). Anyway I did some modifications that end up on a white screen... when I replaced back the old settings and I was able to boot again I started to have the kind of bug you describe: kontakt 3 gui empty... Well, after a few reboots it got back to normal... I havent find a pattern, so I cannot tell exactly what it is.

I had that also long time ago under 10.4.x with a GMA950, if I remember well....

My guess is that we get those bugs 'cause our graphic cards are not fully supported; and I dont mean to have QE, CI, etc. I guess we are missing some data from original mac cards EFI roms.

Is worth to say that currently I do not have any of this problems on my desktop computer running a NVidia 7600GT... In this case I used my distro (XxX) but only 'Essential System Software' item. Then added the rest of the needed kexts by hand on /Extra folder and installed Chameleon 2.... So is pretty much a retail install
