I installed Apple's Quicktime 7.6.2 update and iTunes 8.2 last night via the Software Update control panel. The upgrade went well. The only problem was the reintroduction of the skipping mouse/skipping frames problem that has plagues some of us who have 8600/8800 video cards. Applying the Disabler.kext from this thread:

solved the problem with both the mouse skipping (that wasn't as pronounced as under prior versions of this bug) and frame skipping in Quicktime.

After update iTunes to 8.2 mac can't find/see my iPod. I'm getting error in system.log
com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.usbmuxd[432]): getpwnam("_usbmuxd") failed
com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.usbmuxd[432]): Exited with exit code: 1
Any help?

yes the update worked with me but why are ppl giving their graphics card details?
has this got anything to do wu=ith the updates? personally i got the NV 9500GT

Well I had no problems with these 2 updates...I guess there is "nothing" special in there.

I remember Apple did once "hide" a new kernel in an update which wasn't a new 10.5.X version....

Here's another question: "Why didn't you follow the provided link, the one in the second post, and read what I said over there?".

In short: People with certain NVidia adapters experienced mouse lags, like me with the GT8600 and thus we had to add AppleUpstreamUserClientDisabler.kext to disabler.kext or remove that file – people like me just don't like to flash their video adapter, which was another option, and we also don't want to remove files.

And thus that is why we need the video adapters brand/type or you post here is moot point – due to the lack of info.

The crash reporter logs can help find the root cause or else type syslog as soon as you get the crash and post the same.

Try this workaround,

Create a new user id and try using itunes and see if you still get the problem.
Anyways,did you change RAM recently ?

i logged into my guest account and tried downloading the single of the week.. it also quit...
no i haven't its been 3 gigs for like 6 months now

solved by removing the app "Coversutra", so not related to any Apple-updates.
