Flood Control

I understand that it may be a necessary evil but come on, this is ridiculous. 20 seconds my ass, it's way more than 20 seconds.

It's bad enough already with valuable information and whole threads disappearing, and database errors that last all day. 1000 monkeys aren't enough.

The new, stricter flood control makes me feel like I'm being slapped in the face for helping people.

How about disabling it for users with more than 100 posts for example?

Hello, and sorry for the inconvenience. Although I didn't install the flood control I was the one who requested it be installed as a short term measure to reduce load on the servers and stop the fscking spammers...

Despite what the error says, the pm rate has been restricted to 1 pm in any 5 minute period so yes it is much longer than 20 seconds. Your request seems reasonable though, I will speak to the devs about removing the pm restrictions for users with decent post counts.

Hope to get something sorted for you soon :)

Regards

M

I'm getting annoyed by this, too. It's several minutes between permitted posts, in my experience. Other forums I use don't impose such draconian restrictions.

Sorry for replying to myself. When I posted the above, I'd just gotten annoyed by a "flood control" denial of one of my posts that probably came at least two minutes after my previous post. To my surprise, though, the above post went through immediately, with a much shorter gap between it and the preceding post. Very weird....
