Intel Mobile 45 Express Chipset / GM45 Video

I've googled and searched the forum for a solution but came up with squat.

I've got iATKOS v5 running on my Sony Vaio VGN-FW235J Notebook.

Lots of things work hunky dory, like the built in bluetooth, for one, worked straight out the box. Never worked properly on Vista or Win7. Eat that!

But my primary problem is with audio, video, and wireless. I'm going to start with video because I can live w/o the remainder.

My laptop has an Intel Mobile 45 Express chipset with integrated Intel GM45 video (I know it's {censored}, I should have sprung for the Blueray version of my laptop and I would have ended up with a GMA950... smeg!). 10.5.5 has no trouble running on it, but only gives the option of 1024x768 resolution. So either I need a compatible driver to install, or a way to force the native resolution of 1600x900. I can't imagine that there's no way to do the latter. I used to do workarounds like that regularly on Linux. Just changed a conf file to meet my specs.

The video card has VGA and HDMI outputs as well - I haven't tried hooking either up to see if it works. If I can get the HDMI to work properly, that might be good enough, as I mainly use an external monitor, and while I'm on the road, could just dual-boot back into Windows 7.

So, does anybody have any insights? I thank you very much in advance for your help. If I can get MacOSX running 100% on my Vaio, it'll be a lovely stopgap until I can afford the 24" iMac.

Don't be so negative, I have an Intel GMA 4500MHD on my laptop and am still hoping for a way to get it working, fully. Don't really care about the VGA/HDMI Ports (would be an added bonus though), I just want my QE/CI and 1280x800. =(

The only thing that doesn't work right on my laptop is the graphics, thats it.

I will be eternally grateful to anyone who manages to make that happen.

It doesn't work and it won't. Never, as in NOT EVER. Apple dumped Intel graphics chipsets before the 45 series video was used. They won't be going back.

Hi,

I have sony vaio VGN-FW170J. I am going to install i ATKOS v7. Can you help me out with settings that you adopted for your installation (for iATKOS v5) or refer me to a good guide that worked for you. As most of the hardware specs of my notebook are similar to that of yours.

Thanks

Gohar
