jjoe
Hi, I am staying in 10.5.4 (original Kalyway 10.5.x) for a while because updating means reading more instructions and probably a non-working system. Recently, I surveyed the forum, and found three new methods other than a hacked DVD: 1. Install a retail Mac DVD from a working Mac + EFI 2. Boot-132, which also uses a retail DVD 3. EFI-x Honestly, I don't care if I can use a retail DVD or not. The only thing matters is updating from Apple directly without doing some hacking. I know the more vanilla a system is, the more possible that updating from Apple would works. Unfortunately, methods 1 and 2 still don't allow an easy update. Maybe from 10.5.0 to 10.5.1 works, but not for 10.5.2. So, my question is is EFI-x the only method can do this for now? I prefer some way in software cause EFI-X is expensive... Scottapotamas
number 2 will work perfectly, update everything from apple and the lot... EFI-X is a waste of money, and, unless you have all the right parts and enough money, still quite pointless... If you want a retail boot123 guide then http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...p;#entry1133341 gives you the basic idea...
jjoe
Thanks! I just saw this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=76404 So Boot-132 does make it happen. The difference is placing all kext in the EFI partition, not in Apple installation. I am gonna try tonight.
