Japan Mac Mini

Hello,

I'm going to Japan this summer and I've planed to buy a Mac Mini there (there are much more cheaper, about 150-200€ difference). Before doing it I would like to know if I will have any problems with warranty, hardware problems (like monitor, keyboard...). Japan uses NTSC system and Spain uses PAL, I don't know if this will cause any trouble.

Thanks and regards, Roger.

I'm not sure if its this way with Japan/EU, but I know it's illegal to export US computers to other countries (you have to get the version the company makes for that area).

Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, and welcome to forum Royger!

It's illegal to export them, but it's legal for home use, or at least I think so. It doesn't make sense to me, if I was staying 6 months maybe I would really need to buy a computer, It would be stupid to leave it behind when I return home. I've also heard that Apple has worldwide warranty, can someone confirm this? And at last but not least, Japan uses DVD region 2, the same as Spain, so there isn't any trouble.

Thanks and regards.

PD: I was already registered in the forum, but my account got wiped out or something like this, thanks for the welcome.

Hi Royger,

The only problem is not about importing/exporting, but more about customs declaration.

OS X is a real multi-language system, so you'll just have to change the language setting in system preferences/international.

For the hardware question, it's not a problem, because the mini is using a hashing powersupply, which means it can handle from 90 to 240 volts @50/60hz.

The rest of the hardware is 100% countries independant (maybe the airport's channels restriction).
