DO NOT INSTALL APPLE KEYBOARD UPDATE!

I just went and downloaded the "Apple Keyboard Update" from Software Update, which purported only to "improve the functionality of your Apple Keyboard and Mouse." Yea, right.

One reboot later and now nothing that I do (including opening photobooth, launching the mirror widget or {insert rediculous workaround solution here}) will enable me to get rid of that GOD FORSAKEN WHINING NOISE!!!! (explitives deleted) :pirate2:

I feel like shooting myself in the head. If I wasn't flying to Houston tomorrow Apple Support would not be hearing the end of my rants. :graduated:

To those of you that have yet to download...consider yourself forewarned: The Whining Noise is back with a vengence.

Edit: If you leave the Mirror Widget on then the whining noise does go away, but that means your iSight is permanently on and eating up valuable RAM. It used to be a simple start/stop of the Mirror Widget would disable the whining noise until reboot or activation of an application that made use of the iSight.

Suleiman is probably talking about the Macbook pro whine noise (my MBP whines a LOT).

You can revert back with your Tiger 10.4.5 DVD and Pacifist (google if you need) :

With Pacifist open the following Package :

Your Tiger DVD/System/Library/Installation/Packages/Essentials.pkg

Then select in the file list :

System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext

Click "Install". It will ask you if you want to replace the files, select "Replace" (you can check the box if you want).

Then exit Pacifist, repair the authorizations of your hard drive. This will revert back to the 10.4.5 driver and should allow you to use Mirror/Photobooth and even MagicNoiseKiller.

Restart.

As always remerber that this trick modify your system folder. If something goes wrong you can screw your installation. So SAVE YOUR DATA BEFORE TO DO THIS. DO NOT TRY IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU DO.

Everything is still ok here I have an Intel iMac.

Well obviously I am going to have to keep my bluetooth mouse on all the time now to kill the noise. This is horrible, I wish I read this before I updated, b/c the noise seems even louder. I've had my macbook for over 30 days now, does anyone think I have a good chance of demanding a exchange or logic board replacement?

I to installed the keyboard update, with no problems, but than I never was getting the wine sound everyone discribes, I know several people have said running the MBP on just the 512MB memory and upgrading to 1GB helped the sound go away, I myself am running with 2GB and never expierenced the sound problem.
